"Good morning!" Kal cheers, entering the room with a grin on his face. But his happiness fades when he sees my exhausted expression. "What's up with you? You look like a wreck."

"I couldn't sleep," I respond. "I've been up all night."

I take a sip of my coffee, impatiently waiting for the caffeine to reach my veins.

This is my third cup since I got out of bed. I gave up on sleep hours ago. There was no point. Even though I was tired, every time I'd shut my eyes, my head would start spinning.

It was my first time sleeping in my own bed, without Oliver, in an entire week. That shouldn't be such a big deal, but it feels... empty. My bed felt a cold, I had to turn the heater on.

I couldn't stop thinking about him. He worries me. I know he's working, but I expected him to at least respond to my texts, or accept my FaceTime calls. We've never gone this long without speaking to each other in one way or another.

I don't even know where he is. He could be at his office at home, or in New York. He might've finished his work ages ago, and fallen asleep. But he said he'd be working all night, and he's a light sleeper, so my calls would've woken him up.

I don't understand. It's unlike him. It's unlike us.

"Ah, you got frisky, huh?" Kal winks. "Oliver keep you busy?"

"What?" I scowl. "No."

"Why not? Is there trouble in paradise?"

"No," I shake my head. "Oliver isn't even here."

"He isn't?" his tone shifts. "His car is parked out front."

"What?" my eyes widen. "No, it isn't."

"Yeah, it is. I parked right behind it."

I climb out of my seat, hurrying towards the front room. I pull the curtains aside to glance out the window. Sure enough, the green Bentley is parked at the side of the road, right next to the driveway.

How long has it been there?

"Is Liam home?" Kal asks. "Maybe he's upstairs."

"Liam!" I boom, heading to the staircase. I stand at the bottom of it, calling out for my brother once more.

"What?" he grumbles. "I'm sleeping!"

"Come downstairs! I need you!"

"Don't stress about this, Lucy," Kal warns.

"I'm not," I snap, but I know it's a lie. I can't help it.

Somethings wrong. I can feel it.

"What's up?" Liam slowly makes his way down the stairs. His face is wrinkled, and his eyes are squinted. He definitely just woke up.

I try my chances anyway.

"Are you with Oliver?" I ask.

"No," he frowns. "Why?"
