"Would you roundhouse kick your best friend for a million dollars?" Quinn asked the group before taking a bite from her green apple.

"I'd roundhouse kick Reese for free," Jamie answered, a blank expression on her face.

With a gaped mouth, Reese gasped. "Rude. I would never do such a thing, no matter the cost."

"Bullshit. You spit in my face for a quarter last year so you could get a gumball," Jamie spat.

It was the first official day of camp. Currently, everyone was enjoying breakfast as they chatted with one another, getting to know the people they would spend the entire summer with. While the counselors sat at their own tables, the campers sat around them, making sure to keep an eye on the children at all times.

When Davina woke that morning, she immediately took anti-anxiety medication along with her panic attack pills; she knew she was going to need them for the day. Whenever she had to attend a social event, she always took both of her medications together. They manage to keep her calm moments before which was when her anxiety was at its highest.

However, the pills didn't help that certain feeling she received every time she glanced at Finn. Whether his eyes were on her or someone else, nausea circled her stomach. She knew this was some kind of a warning but she shook it off like her other doubtful thoughts, believing it was just her head trying to ruin another thing for her.

Throughout breakfast, she stared out into the woods. She watched the birds fly from tree to tree and squirrels nibble on nuts that they hid beneath leaves. The sight was quite relaxing yet she couldn't help but feel jealousy at how carefree the animals were. They were all in their own world, not worrying about the what-ifs like her.

Her phone buzzed from underneath her thigh, bringing her back to reality. She slid her thigh slightly to the right to take a look at the device, noticing it was Reese. For a split second, she forgot that they exchanged phone numbers the day before and the name on the screen confused her but was quickly replaced with an odd warmth in her chest.

You okay?

Before answering the message, Davina couldn't help but look at her peer. Reese sat on the opposite side of the table, diagonally across from the dark girl. They locked gazes, Reese giving her a small smile and jumping back into conversation with the others.

Yeah. Just nervous about today.

Why? Because of the kids?

Kind of. What if they don't like me?

What if something bad happens?

What? Like one of them dying or something?
We aren't that lucky.

That's not funny!

Sorry, sorry dear Davi! But it's gonna be okay. Paxton told me last night that he thinks you're cool.

He did?

Why wouldn't he? What's there not to like?

Shut up.

You're gonna be fine. Just remember that you're not going to be alone. I'm going to be with you the entire time. Sadly, not alone but don't worry, we'll get our alone time later. ;)

In your dreams.

True but in your's too.

Rolling her eyes, Davina turned her attention to what the group had been discussing while in her daze. Beside her, Wes was attempting to explain the plot to a superhero movie that Davina had zero interest in but tried to engage to keep her mind off her anxious thoughts. It was nice to have someone who wasn't an adult know about her Social Anxiety Disorder. All the adults in her life did was tell her to use her coping skills instead of asking her about what she felt nervous about. She appreciated that they wanted her to take care of herself but sometimes all she wanted was to talk to someone, to vent and not have criticism followed.
