This is the TFP episode, known as Triage, in a scene where Wheeljack is fighting Soundwave, and he gets knocked to the ground.
Many people have said that it's simply a reflection but here's my reasoning on why it's not: He was facing the sky, so there would be no purple light naturally occurring to reflect off of.
So where is that purple light on his visor coming from?
It has to be coming from above.
Or....from behind.
My theory: his optics.

Now, I could see why people could mistaken it as a reflection.
