For the next 'Spotlight On' band, I'm going with a band I recently discovered but has been rising on my list of great symphonic metal bands.
The Loudest Silence is a symphonic metal band from Bosnia & Herzegovina. They were formed in 2010, but didn't release their first full album, Aesthetic Illusions, until 2018. I happened to hear Aesthetic Illusions on YouTube last month, and I was surprised by how good the music was and how much I liked the album.
The Loudest Silence's music has very atmospheric (sometimes haunting) tones to it, the kind of atmospheric overtones I would have expected to hear from a gothic metal or doom metal band (think Draconian or the early works of Tristania and Theatre of Tragedy). For me, this was an interesting change because I a lot of symphonic metal bands I've heard have had mainly fast-paced songs and are very guitar and drum-driven. The Loudest Silence takes their time and lets the music play out, making them atmospheric symphonic metal.
The other thing I really like about the band is their singer, Taida Nazraic. Taida has a very light, girly-sounding voice with hints of operatic tones here and there. She actually has the kind of voice I would normally avoid when it comes to metal bands, but her voice somehow fits perfectly with the music, and she has a great voice.
I'm going to include a couple of songs here so you can hear what they're all about:
Redemption
Wake Up In My Dream
If you're a fan of symphonic metal, I recommend The Loudest Silence!
