TRIGGER WARNINGS: abuse, suicidal thoughts, self harm, child torture (sorry). I was in a bit of a fucked up place when I wrote this so please don't read if this could affect you negatively.

i see humans but no humanity
a masterpiece of appearance and a muted reality

there's this boy you know
he's trying hard to let go
after taking blow after blow
and refusing to let the bruises show
so speak up? no.
it's not as simple as before
to do that you have to open your door
and then you're not protected anymore

but it gets worse when you turn up the heat
in that the same guy who killed the boy
is the same guy that smiled at you from across the street
but you don't hear his fists as they beat.

all lips are swollen shut
welded together
stitched closed

the girl on the park bench
with the long sleeves
the one who's attention seeking and gets taken the piss
because of the slits on her wrists
because she's just looking for attention
would have no hesitation
in taking her own life.
she cries herself to sleep every night.

thinking no one understands
she takes a blade in her hands
and adds to the shattered art
that numbs her shattered heart
drawing in silver but the line turns red
it's magic.

hidden from the stars
she adds to the scars
on her wrists
and arms
and stomach
and thighs
just to feel the highs
of feeling alive.
she almost dies.
and collapses with that final push
but welcomes the rush
of endorphins.
she blacks out.

there's evil i can't understand
strange horror that walks this land
strange horror that got dealt
an evil mental hand

because 96% of the internet is the dark web
that means 96% of humanity is fucked in the head
abuse, rape, murder - demons with no end
your neighbours, their neighbours, their families friends

look twice on a whim
look at him
behind the counter
he enjoys the torture
of young primary school kids
as he scans your items
he smiles at the sight under his lids
as he packs your plastic carrier bag
neatly
from seam to seam
he loves to hear them scream

we don't look
or listen
or see signs or read between the fortress of lines
into the stronghold of minds
but behind each closed door there's a different scene
and i see a glimpse of the future
so let me tell you about this butcher
and his fiend-like queen

from their balcony they watch
the world burning below
a table for two
killers gone psycho
their marriage rings gleam
their champagne glasses clink
in cheers
bathing in an eternity of molten tears.
