Chapter 25

Race's POV

The whole ride took hours. Gabing-gabi na nang makarating kami sa pent house. Matatagpuan ito malayo sa siyudad, tago sa maiinit na mga mata ng publiko. It was surrounded by trees and tall grasses.

Nang makababa sa van, ako na ang nagpresintang magdala ng gamit ni Zena.

Sinalubong kami ng isang ginang. She smiled upon seeing us. Lucas took her hand and blessed. Ginawa rin namin 'yon isa-isa.

"She's lola Sinya, the care taker of the pent house. And that little guy," Lucas pointed his finger to the kid running towards us. Agad itong yumakap sa binti ni Lucas nang makarating. "He's Dillan. Lola Sinya's grandchild. Sila lang ang tao rito sa pent house."

We all went inside the house. It was pretty huge. Since we're not going to stay inside, sa iisang kwarto na lang namin nilagay lahat ng bagahe.

Everyone's tired and hungry. I voluntereed to cook food. Good thing, Zena wanted to help as well.

Nagprito lang naman ako ng ham and bacon dahil pagod na rin naman ako dahil sa b'yahe.

When the food is ready, Zena called them all to gather in the kitchen.

We were just eating in silence. Ayaw kumain nila lola Sinya at Dillan dahil katatapos lang daw nila. The little kid was so happy to see his kuya Lucas. Napansin kong malapit si Lucas sa mga bata. Bigla ko na lang din tuloy naalala ang nakababata kong kapatid.

"Bakit ngayon ka lang nabisita rito hijo. Lagi kang kinukulit ni Dillan sa akin. 'Yong kapatid mo, bakit hindi mo kasama?" Tanong ni lola Sinya.

May kapatid pa pala siya? He haven't share it to us.

"He's busy running some errands. Don't worry, I'll bring him here some other time." He replied.

Lucas stood up and excused himself. Nang matapos akong kumain ay sumunod ako sa kanya sa labas ng bahay. I found him staring at the night sky. Mukhang malalim ang iniisip.

"Hey, man." I said. Now I got his attention.

"What's wrong? You seem upset?" Tanong ko saka tumitig din sa kalangitan. I let him stared at me.

He sighed, "I don't know if it's good for me to share this since we're all here to enjoy not for dramas."

Tiningnan ko siya. Nakamasid na siya ngayon sa kalangitan. I saw the shade of sadness in his eyes that I could almost see tears forming around his eyelids.

"I have a younger brother, though I was just months older than him." He smiled but I could sense the sadness in it. "Hindi ko alam pero malaki ang selos ko sa kanya. Bunso kasi, kaya lahat ng pabor sa kanya rin. Since he came into our lives, all the attention our parents were giving me was averted to him. Naitsapwera ako. Once and for all, I feel like nothing. I felt like dumb."

Ramdam ko ang lungkot sa boses niya.  All he was just showing me was a cause of his mask and a filter. I know this time, his walls down.

"All I've done to him was to hate him even if he didn't do anything wrong against me. Dala siguro ng selos kaya gan'on na lang ang inis ko sa kanya."

Hindi ko kasi alam ang pakiramdam ng may kapatid kaya hindi ko alam ang isasagot sa kanya. Yeah, I have a younger brother and a family as well but when they all gone, I raised myself without the help of anyone. Maybe that's the reason why I became this numb towards this cruel earth.

"Then one time, I had fight with dad so I ran away. He followed. He kept on convincing me to just come back and compromise to dad but I am just too stone-hearted that I let my pride won against me."
