The marauders rode in the same compartment every year, ever since they all accidentally ended up in the carriage at the back together (except James of course who claimed all the cool kids sat in the back so why wouldn't he) in their first year, when they took the train for the final time in their seventh year they made sure that all their names were carved into the wall, JP and a deer hoofprint, PP and a rat footprint, RL (no print as he refused to acknowledge the wolf), SB and a dog print as well as LE because Lily had finally joined them.
