12: 57 PM, JULY 2ND, 1985

It was the next day and it was dark and rainy outside. Y/n put on her long dark blue floral dress with her red converse. Making her way to the mall and into Scoops Ahoy, seeing Robin listening to the tape recorder and flipping through a translation book.

"Hey Robin. Where's Steve?" Y/n said, Robin smiled and  paused the recorder, taking off her headphones. "He busy with spy-craft." Robin said, raising her eyebrows.

"Ohhh... What's spy-craft?" She asked. Robin explained what it was, and explained what spies where, then looked at Y/n. "Hey Y/n, can I ask you something?" She said, Y/n nodded in approval.

"Why are you so close to Steve? Do you love him or something?" Robin had asked in completely in curiosity. Y/n was finally alone with her, Robin thought she could talk to her and figure out some things.

"Um, well, the night I came to Hawkins, Steve was there and he protects me from bad men and he is my favorite friend. He cares about me and I care about him. I don't know if I love him, I have seen love in movies and with Johnathan and Nancy, but I don't know how to." She really did try explaining and it was probably the most Robin got out of the girl. Robin decided to not ask anymore questions. seeing Y/n's struggle and thought it'd be better to ask Steve soon. So Robin decided to send her on a mission.

"Hey Y/n, you wanna go on a mission?" Robin ask her, enthusiastic. Y/n nodded and smiled, learning what a mission was a few minutes before.

"Okay, well. I need a scrunchie but I don't have the time to buy one. So, will you go up to Claire's and get me a black one? I'll give you five dollars, maybe you can get one too. They are two dollars for one scrunchie, okay? Just go up there and get a black scrunchie and whichever one you want and go to the people who work behind the counter, like I do, and give them the five dollars and they should give you seventy-five cents or a dollar, then come straight back." She said handing her five dollars. Y/n smiled.

"We can be like best friend bracelets! Steve and I have one." She said, excitedly and showed her the thin and small silver bracelet on her right wrist, also showing her '004' tattoo. Robin noticed but didn't say anything about it, so she chuckled with Y/n.

"Of course! Okay, do you know what Claire's looks like?" She asked, Y/n shook her head no. robin grabbed a pen, writing 'Claire's' on her left arm, so she'd know the word.

"It has those letters above it okay?" Robin instructed and she nodded, walking out of the store the turned to Robin, still walking. "Okay. Bye Robin!" Robin waved her a goodbye and made her way to the escalator, which was near by.

"Do you see anything?" Dustin asked Steve, who was also crouching down next to him. Steve had the binoculars in hand and was looking around the mall. "I guess, I don't totally know what I'm looking for." Steve responded.

"Evil Russians." Dustin responded. "Yeah, exactly. I don't know what an evil Russian looks like." Steve argued. "Tall, blonde, not smiling. Also, look for ear pieces, camo, duffel bags, that sort of thing." Dustin listed. "Yeah, right. Duffle bags." Steve mumbled, then spotted Y/n on the escalator, with a five dollar bill in her hand.

"Oh, you've gotta be kidding me." Steve sighed. "What?" Dustin asked. "Y/n's by herself on an escalator, with money." He said, Dustin sighed. "Dude, if you're not gonna focus, just gimme the damn binoculars." Dustin said.

"Ah, Jesus christ. She going to get lost or something! I mean, she's not allowed to be by herself in public." Steve said, watching her make her way into Claire's. "Dude, you are he worst spy in history, you know that?" Dustin said, taking away the binoculars.

"Stop. Hey, stop." Steve mumbled, hitting dustin lightly. "Besides why are you even worried? it's not like you're her boyfriend or anything." Dustin said. "Seriously, if I have to explain this again." Steve rolled his eyes.

"You know, you're just scared to get your feelings hurt because you love her and she doesn't know what love is, plus the whole Nancy thing that happened, over a year ago!" Dustin explained, getting louder at the end. "No, okay. Maybe I do love her and I am not scared and I am over Nancy!" Steve whisper-yelled.

"Alright, yeah but you're still scared of asking her out. You should be the one to teach her what love is, and by the looks of it, she might." Dustin said, mumbling the last part. "I'm asking her out soon, I want to tell her that- wait, what do you mean, 'by the looks of it'?" Steve asked.

"I mean, that you guys are all over each other. She wears your jacket, you hug her and talk to her like your dating, maybe she might love you." Dustin explained. "You should ask her out. You might become like me and Suzie." Dustin added, Steve looked at him in disbelief.

"Oh Suzie. You mean, 'hotter than Phoebe Cates.' Yeah, that Suzie. Let's think about it, how exactly did you score that beautiful girlfriend? Oh yeah, with my advice because that's how this works Henderson. I give you the advice and you follow through. not the other way around, alright pea brain?" Steve said.

Soon enough, the found an 'evil Russian' only to be followed through as jazzercise instructor, on their way back to the ice cream shop. Y/n, on the other hand, payed for the scrunchies and was on an escalator, with two black ones in hand, so her and Robin could match and Robin was in the food court and just cracked the code.
