‣ The Route cipher is a kind of transposition cipher. The route to follow when reading the ciphertext from the grid or block created (with the plaintext) will serve as the key. The Route Cipher is your message in a pattern kind of like a word search.

You make an arrow in the direction of the first two or three letters and then leave it to the other person to do the rest. To make is easier you can make an arrow all the way through.

This cipher was used during the American Civil War by the Union forces. It moved the whole words around rather than transposing letters by the given route.

ENCRYPTION:
        - - - First, we need a plaintext. We will use the " MEET ME AFTER SCHOOL BEHIND THE GYM"as the message. And then we will place it in a grid. You will choose how many columns or rows of the grid you will use.  Next, choose what route you will use to encrypt the message.

DECRYPTION:
        - - - First, you need to know how many columns or rows were used in the grid. You also have to know what route was used.

> 5 cols; 4 rows; Zigzag counter-clockwise from the below-left corner < Next, place the ciphertext in the grid with the route you identified.

NOTE:
    - - - There are many routes you can use. Either spiral counter-clockwise, or just simply right to left route, etc. Route cipher is different from other transposition ciphers because it uses different routes to encrypt the message.
