In one way Ava got stronger by the day, she replaced the weight she lost, and the dark bags under her eyes disappeared. She looked good, beautiful. But in the other way, she became weaker, under the sleeves of her dresses and under her skirt, she was black and blue, covered in the dark, painful bruises. He never hurt her face, he stopped squeezing her throat so hard she bruised. He wanted the people to think he was a loving husband to her, when he was far from it.
Things had gotten so much worse than before. Being comatose for so long, she had forgotten how cruel the bastard was. He played with her mind, in public he held her waist, smiled down at her, kissing her softly. When they were alone, you could hear Ava's cries, from their chamber, all the way from the library. Nobody did anything, I didn't do anything, I couldn't. I could just comfort her afterwards. Until Jon and I broke her out of here there was nothing I could do. She wouldn't go willingly, she was scared of him, and rightly so. But she was loyal to him, she did whatever he asked, whenever he wanted. Fear makes you do crazy things. She fell for him, in her eyes he was so awful because of his past, being a bastard, his father not loving him, whatever. She was convinced she could change him, but men like that will never change.
He had locked her in their chamber for 3 days, they had a fight, and she, in his own words, 'pushed him too hard.' Today was the morning she was allowed out, I heard Ramsay talking to Roose about it. She had been punished enough. I had been up for hours, waiting to see my sister. I had been sat at the dining table for an hour. He came down first, joining his father, step mother and I at the table. "Morning sister." He called, smirking evilly. "Father, mother." He nodded. "Morning Lord Bolton." I replied, refusing to look at him again. "Ava will be down soon, Agnes is just getting her dressed. She had a rough night, more of those bad dreams I would expect." I ignored him. If she was having nightmares again, it wouldn't be about what happened to our father anymore, it would be about the daily torture from her so called husband.
She entered the room after what felt like forever, I don't know how she could listen to Ramsay talk all day. His voice made my blood boil. When he reached out to touch her I got the urge to drive a knife into his chest. She looked so awful, her eyes full of sadness, she didn't hold herself the way she did before, she quietly made her way to the table. Ava had become so shy again. She took her seat beside Ramsay and she kissed his cheek. He smirked at her, raising his eyebrow. "I was thinking of going riding today lover, would you like to join me?" She nodded her head. "Yes Lord Bolton." She whispered, he scoffed. "Why are you still being so formal? We're only formal around other lords and ladies. Not around our family."
He grinned at me. He made me feel sick. "Yes Ramsay." She corrected herself. "How would you feel about Sansa joining us?" Her head shot up. She looked across the table at me, almost begging me to say no, she was trying to protect me from something, I knew that look. "She hates horses lover, she wouldn't have a good time" I cut in front of her, making sure she couldn't make another excuse. "No I don't, Arya is the one who hates horses, remember? I would love to join you both Ramsay." I lied. Roose stared at her across the table. "Brilliant, we can all meet in the stables in an hour. Come Ava." He stood up and held his hand out to her, she had hardly even began to eat. She smiled weakly at me before taking his hand and exiting the room. Roose made a comment about how she was walking with a slight limp. "Such a shame how she was thrown from that beast of hers." I wanted to scream and shout at him. Tell him that he raised his son to be even worse than him. Shadowmere would never throw Ava. Roose was enabling Ramsay's behaviour towards my sister. But I didn't. "Yes, he could have done some serious damage." I bluntly replied.
