Chapter 18

Cole did a nice job setting up the basement for us. We had a place for our presents and sleeping arrangements were set. He even set up the projector so we can start watching our favorite Christmas movies. There were also snacks out like chips and cookies just to hold us over. Honestly, I give him a 10/10 for this one. The fact that he did this by himself was a plus in my book.

Now, all that was left for me to do was get the popcorn ready. I was already in my pajamas which wasn't much. To be in the Christmas spirit I wore an elf onesie. Sadly, I didn't have a hat to match but I had slippers too. Violet and Cole thought that I looked crazy but their opinions meant very little to me as I headed upstairs to the kitchen.

Placing the popcorn in the microwave, I waited for it to start popping. It was a little weird being in this house as it wasn't the one we grew up in together. They were gone for a while so I doubt the house was still on the market when they decided to move back. It would've been nice to see it again to reminisce about everything. There were so many memories we shared there. Time flew right before our eyes.

Pulling my bag of popcorn out of the microwave, I turned around and dropped the bag as my heart stopped beating for a quick second. This was bound to happen but I was hoping he would be gone already. Instead, he was standing there looking at me while I looked at his hazel eyes. The moment was awkward just as I thought it would be. Neither one of us said a word to each other because it's been a month since I seen him or even reached out to him. He had to feel some type of way staring at me like this.

He cleared his throat, looking down to the floor nervously. "Savannah," he said my name with a chuckle followed right after it. "It's nice to see you finally." He finished catching my gaze again.

"Hi." Was all I could muster to say to him.

It's not that I didn't want to talk to him, it's just he knew how I felt about him. I knew that he knew and it made things worse. That was probably the worst idea I had to date, but I was drunk. There needed to be some slack cut for that one. People do crazy things when they're under the influence. Shit, I do crazy things when I'm not. He knew that though.

I picked up the bag of popcorn I dropped and looked back up at him again. Staring at him made me feel so many different emotions. I couldn't tell if I wanted to go over there and hug him or if I wanted to stay right where I was. My heart was throbbing, but my head was telling me to keep my distance. It's not my fault he looked so damn good. Who was cuter though? That was hard to decide.

"Why are you here?" My tone was rude, but it wasn't intentional. The nerves were actually at a all time high.

He looked a little hurt by my question, but he answered it anyway. "Well, Maisie is busy with her family so I'm here." He said shrugging his shoulders. "Also, this is my house."

I narrowed my eyes at him. "Noooo you don't say?" My sarcasm was peaking through and he loved it.

This wasn't anytime to lie. I missed him. So much that I had to show myself to him a little bit already. You can try to cut ties with someone, but when the feelings are as strong as they are it's hard. This is the guy I've loved since we were little kids. It's no way I would be able to just forget about him like that. No matter how much I tried we would always come back to each other. Like nothing happened. Let's keep it this way.

The awkward silence came back and the popcorn was getting cold. Cole and Violet were probably wondering what was taking me so long. Then again, they were probably down there getting nasty while I was gone. They knew better than to do anything in front of me. I'd punch both of them in the face no questions asked. But, I should probably get back to them. Carson was just a distracting.
