"Where you at?" Leilani asked over the phone

"I'm picking up Nahla. She ain't have a ride and my OG let me use the car" I told her as I watched Nahla walk out the apartment doors

"Okay we waiting here for y'all"

"Okay we on our way" I told her as Nahla got in the car

"Okay be careful"

I hung up placing my phone in the cup holder

"You good?" I asked her seeing her eyes were puffy

"Yeah I'm just worried Vontae. What if they don't let him free?"

"You gotta chill Nahla. The lawyer already told us that they gonna get the murder case dropped. So if anything he'll get 3 years for gun possession and the weed he had on him"

Last month when Polo got arrested they charged with murder because they thought he was the person who did the drive at the studio he was at. Apparently someone got shot and later died in that incident. Witnesses automatically pointed the finger at Polo cause that's the only person they seen at the scene. And it didn't help that he had a gun on him when they pulled him over.

Nahla talked to the lawyer and told her everything that went on that night and it happened to match everything Polo said so the lawyer was able to get enough evidence to clear that up. But since he was caught with a gun and some dope on him he can't still get time for that if the judge decides to

"3 years is still a long time! How am I gonna live 3 years without my best friend being out here with me? How am I gonna he okay knowing he's stuck in a hell hole and I can't do nothing but talk to him for about 5 minutes and visit him whenever they let me?" She argued

I honestly didn't know what else to say to her. I hated that my nigga was going through it in there but there wasn't shit we could do out here but be there for him every step of threat.

"Listen G I know how you feel about him and I know how close y'all are. Trust me this shit hurting me too. But we can't be sad and shit cause that's only gonna make Polo feel even worse. You know he hates to see you hurt and He's probably going crazy cause he knows your probably going crazy. You gotta keep yo head up for him" I told as we reached the court house

"I know it's just soo hard but I know I owe him that much. I just wished I could've stopped him. Done something so he wouldn't have walked out that day. But I guess everything happens for a reason" She said and I wiped her tears

I looked as she got ready and shook my head

These two are in love with each other but so in denial that they don't see it. It's like I want to intervene and shit but ima just let love take its course and let these two see that they're meant for each other

Until then ima just sit back and watch it play. Cause I know one thing is I'm not about to make these two get together and then shit goes left and they blame my ass for getting in they shit. Nope ain't happening

We got out the car closing our doors. I straighten myself out making sure I looked presentable enough cause my OG always told me to never show up looking like a bum to the court no matter who's trial it was.

And besides sometimes they people were on bs with people's choice of clothing.

We made our way to where Mama Coleman and them were at.

"You guys made it" She said as she gave us a hug

"You know we had to be here for our boys day"

"I'm just happy that we found a good lawyer in such a short amount of time. Because lord knows these public defenders ain't gonna do shit for my baby" Mama Coleman said

"Good morning everyone" The lawyer said coming up to us

"Good morning" We all said in unison

"Did you get any more information about the case?"Leilani asked

"So far everything's looking the same. I'm certain that the murder charge will get dropped today and he won't need trail simply because we were able to get enough evidence to show he's innocent and he was in fact inside the studio at the time of the shooting"

"They better drop all charges the fuck" Nahla said crossing her arms

I knew that if Nahla could she would burn this whole bitch down.

"Well let's get inside before they start without us"

We all walked in together heading to the court room. Walking in we took a seat as close as we could so we could so we didn't miss anything.

"Wooski's mad asf he couldn't come today" Nahla whispered

"Shit it's his fault for getting community service" I laughed

"Shh" Mama Coleman said putting her finger to her lips

"Sorry" I said

Soon the court started and in walked Polo wearing his orange suit with shackles around his wrist and ankles.

"My baby" Mama coleman said as she started crying

Seeing my best friend like that broke me man. It hurt that he was going through this for shit he ain't even do but that's the system. They saw he black and already has a record so they needed no other excuse to book him.

"This shit ain't fair man" Nahla shook her head as tears fell. I pulled her to me so I could comfort her as much as I could

As the court proceeded it wasn't looking good. They started bringing up all them times he was booked so they could make it seem like he was a threat.

"Does the jury have a verdict?" The judge asked

"Yes you're honor. In the case of Jamir Coleman Vs the city of Chicago we find him guilty"

Just hearing that made my heart drop and body freeze.

I didn't know what to do or what to say. I was shocked that they actually said he was guilty

"Jamir Coleman you will serve 4 years in Prison"
