LOOSING HOPE

AN AVALANCHE

Sanem awoke the next morning alone in the bed. She kept calling for Can but got no answer. She thought that was weird. She usually woke up wrapped in his arms. She got up and padded into the kitchen. No Can anywhere. She opened the front door of the cabin and still no Can. She started yelling outside for him. She got no answer. She went back inside and looked around again. She started arguing with her inner voice. Her inner voice told her Can was already bored with her and left her there. Sanem told her inner voice that he loved her and would not leave her there. The arguing went back and forth until the front door opened and Can walked in. Sanem asked him where he had been. He told her he went to get more wood for the fireplace. She admitted she thought he was bored with her already and left. He put the wood down and went to her. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her. He told her he would never get bored of her. She kept his life exciting. Sanem smiled at him.

Can asked her what she wanted to do today. Sanem told him she wanted to explore the mountain. She asked him if they could take the ATV? Can smiled and told her absolutely. Sanem asked him if she could drive it? Can looked at her seriously and said let me think about it. He then smiled his toothy smile and said yes, she could drive it. Sanem jumped into his arms excited. She then gave him a deep kiss. She said I love you, Mr. Divit. He told her he loved her, Mrs. Divit. He asked her who Deniz was? Sanem asked who? He told her she was talking in her sleep last night about someone needing help with their beach shoes and her name was Deniz. Sanem could not look Can in the face. She told him she didn't remember. Can knew she was lying. He then asked her who had twins. Sanem still wouldn't look at him. She told him she had no clue. She doesn't remember what she dreams. Can knew for a fact she was lying because she has a photographic memory and forgets nothing. Can looked into her face and asked her why she wouldn't tell him. Sanem smiled and said there wasn't anything to tell. It was only a dream. Can embraced her and told her he dreams of their future children too. There is a little girl who looks exactly like her momma. Then there are twins, a boy and a girl. The boy looks like him and even acts like him. The little girl acts like her momma and loves to read. She has the bluest eyes like Sanem's sister Leyla. Sanem just stared at him. She asked him how they could have the same dream? Can told her their souls were connected. He told her he felt everything she felt. He asked her if wanted children? Sanem said Oh yes, very much. I have always wanted to be a mother. Can smiled and told her he has wanted to be a father since the day he met her. He admitted when he was traveling a lot, children never entered his mind. Actually, being married and settled down never entered my mind. He told her when he met her, she changed him. Sanem told him she never wanted to change him. Can said I am glad you changed me. You have made me a better person. You made me want things I never thought I wanted. The day I met you at the opera house, without even seeing your face, I knew I wanted a different path in life. Sanem asked him if he regretted not traveling anymore. Can didn't even have to think about it before he answered no. He said if I were to travel now, you would be by my side. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Sanem smiled at him and told him she was glad she was at the opera house that night. She was glad her parents made her get a real job, so she wouldn't have to marry Muzzo. Can looked at her and said what? Marry Muzzo? Can never knew that part. He said you're kidding, right? Sanem said no, I am not kidding. She said she didn't like how she was picturing her life with Muzzo. Can laughed and said I cannot even picture it. Sanem told him she was glad she ended up with him instead of Muzzo. Can said me too. Sanem then said she was hungry. Can said you are always hungry and that is one of the many reasons I love you. They headed to the kitchen for food.

Can made his famous omelets, with a side of bacon. Sanem dug in. Can watched his wife eat and smiled. He just couldn't love this woman anymore than he already did. He told her when they were done eating, they would go exploring on the ATV. Sanem said super. They cleaned up breakfast together. They then went and bundled up to head outdoors. Sanem said remember you said I could drive it. Can smiled and said I remember. Sanem hopped on the ATV with Can behind her. He wrapped his arms around her and held on. They rode all over the mountain. Sanem had never seen such a beautiful place. Can had never seen such a beautiful woman, as his Sanem. They found a cave and decided to go in and explore it. They walked hand in hand. There were icicles hanging everywhere. They were shiny like diamonds. They headed further back into the cave. The further they got, the darker the cave became. Can brought his flashlight because he figured it would become dark in there.

All of a sudden, they heard a loud rumble and the cave began to shake. Can knew immediately what it was. He grabbed Sanem's hand and told her to run. They ran as fast as they could but before they made it to the exit of the cave, it filled up with rock, snow and ice. It was an avalanche and they were now trapped.
