LOOSING HOPE

SANEM FALLS ILL

The next morning, Can and Sanem got ready to head home from their camping trip. They had slept all night naked in the hammock, holding each other. They could not wait to get home to their babies. Can loaded up his truck and made sure the fire was completely out. They got in the truck and headed home. Sanem told Can thank you for an unforgettable weekend. Can smiled and said it was definitely unforgettable. Sanem told him she was ordering a hammock for them when she got home. Can told her he was thinking the same thing. They both laughed.

They headed straight to the Aydin's to pick up their kids before headed to their home. Sanem greeted her parents. Can loaded up the kids in the truck. Sanem told her parents she would call them later. They headed home. Once home, Sanem got the kids in the house and Can unloaded the truck. Can found Sanem in the living area talking to the kids. She was hugging and kissing each one. She told them she missed them so much. Can put their camping stuff down and went in to greet his kids. They were jumping all over Can. The kids really missed their parents.

Sanem went and started laundry from their camping trip. She would let Can unpack and store their camping gear. She then unpacked the kids' things from their stay with their grandparents. Can came and found her. He hugged her from behind. He asked what she was doing. Sanem told him she was putting everything away. Can told her to come relax with him and the kids for a while. Sanem gave him a quick kiss and told him she was almost done, and she would be there. Can said OK. Sanem finished putting things away and took the kid's laundry to the laundry room. She went back into the living area with Can and their kids.

Sanem sat on the couch beside Can. He threw his arm around her. He asked her if she was OK. Sanem said yes, just a little tired. She told him she had a pain in her side that wouldn't stop hurting. Sanem smiled and told him it was probably just a muscle that got pulled from the hammock. Can smiled and told her that was possible. They were using muscles they didn't even know they had. After a while, Can told her he was going to put their camping gear in the storage shed and he would be right back. Sanem said OK. He gave her a quick kiss and headed to the storage shed. Sanem was hurting really bad by this point. It even hurt to walk. She did not want to go to the hospital. She hated hospitals. She just kept thinking it would eventually stop. While the kids were coloring on the floor of the living area, she went outside on the balcony to breathe some fresh air. Nothing was helping the pain. She went and took some pain relievers. By this time, she was feeling nauseated. She checked on the kids and they were still coloring and chatting among themselves. She ran to the bathroom and vomited. She noticed blood in the toilet. She was covered in perspiration and shaking by this time. She entered the bedroom and she doubled over in pain. She cried out. That was the last thing she remembered before she hit the floor.

Can got everything packed away in the storage shed and headed back inside. He found the kids on the floor in the living area coloring, but no Sanem. He went in search of her. When he entered their bedroom, he found her passed out on the floor. He ran to her. He was saying her name, but she did not respond. He checked for a pulse and found one. She was covered in perspiration. Can called an ambulance and then Mihriban. He asked Mihriban to come quickly. He told her Sanem was unconscious on the floor. He called an ambulance but needed her to stay with their kids. Mihriban told him she would there in a few. Mihriban and Aziz made it, just as the ambulance had arrived. The medics loaded Sanem on a gurney and carried her to the ambulance. Can climbed into the back of the ambulance. He would not let go of Sanem's hand. She still remained unconscious. She was burning up with fever. He called the Aydin's quickly to let them know what was happening. They said they would meet Can at the hospital. Once in the hospital, they wheeled Sanem back to a room where the doctor was already waiting for her. Can could not enter the room and had to stay in the waiting area. This killed Can. He needed to be with her. Soon Sanem's parents arrived but Can had no information o give them. The doctor had not come out of the room.

Soon, Sanem was being rushed out of the room and taken to the operating room. The doctor stopped long enough to tell Can that Sanem's appendix had ruptured and they had to operate. It was very serious. They needed his permission for the surgery, since he was her husband. Can said do it. Just save her. Can's legs gave way and he sat down in a nearby chair. He put his head in his hands. Was he going to lose his wife? How would he go on without her? She was his half...his heart...his everything. Mevkibe came over and embraced Can. She told him her little bird was a fighter. She was strong and she had a lot to live for. Mevkibe told him she would be alright and pull through this. She told Can to stay positive and pray hard. Can hugged her back.

It seemed like forever, and still no word on Sanem. By this time, Leyla and Emre had arrived. Soon after, Muzzo, Cey Cey and Bulut showed up. Can updated everyone on what he knew so far. Finally, the doctor came up to them. He told Can that Sanem's appendix had ruptured. It was very serious. They had to remove her appendix and now she was in a recovery room. The doctor said only one person could enter the recovery room, so Can went in. He found his wife laying in a bed, looking so pale and fragile. She was unconscious. With tears in his eyes he sat down in a chair beside her bed. He grabbed her hand. He begged his wife to come back to him. He begged her not to leave him. He begged her to fight. By this time, he had tears falling down his cheeks. He kept asking himself why this was always happening. Why couldn't they enjoy life with each other? Did he do something wrong in his past for this to happen? After a while, he left the recovery room and went back to the waiting area. Mevkibe embraced him when he came out. Can broke down and held on to Mevkibe. He kept saying he could not lose her. She was his everything. Mevkibe just held him while he cried.

The doctor came back to talk to them. He told them Sanem would be moved to a room in about an hour or so. She was still unconscious, and he wouldn't know anything more until she woke up. He was able to remove her appendix which was a good thing. Once the appendix ruptured, it released toxins into her system. They were pumping her full of medication to get rid of the toxins. So, now it was a waiting game. The family thanked the doctor. Can sat there in his own little world. All he could think of was his beautiful wife. He prayed she would wake up soon.
