NINE
"I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND what his problem was!" Annalise exclaimed. "I get that he has a problem with James, but that doesn't mean that he gets to dictate who I choose to be around!""I'm glad you walked away from him." Roxy told her. "He needed to know that he should never pull something like that again."
"This is exactly why I hate talking about quidditch with him." Annalise groaned, falling backwards on her bed. "Something has always happens! But no, he can't go a single minute without bringing up how good Ravenclaw's team is this year!"
The next day at breakfast William had apologized to her. And she had forgiven him like she always did. It's not like she couldn't. He was William. He could be an asshole at times, but she loved him and she knew he loved her too. This time, his apology seemed sincere, and she knew he genuinely felt bad for the fight they had the night before.
She had finished explaining to Talia and Roxy what had happened, as the three of them sat in their dormitories after lunch. They were all laying on their four posters, trying to get started on their homework, but the only one that actually seemed to be getting anything done was Talia.
"What an asshole." Roxy said bitterly, once Annalise had finished explaining.
"I know." Annalise muttered in agreement. "But it's fine. Everyone has their moments."
Roxy opened her mouth like she was going to say something, but shut it soon after. Annalise glanced down at her scroll, but out of the corner of her eye she could see Roxy give Talia a look and mouth something, but she couldn't make out what she had said. Talia didn't mouth anything back, and she simply shook her head.
"I can see you guys, you know." Annalise said looking up from her scroll. She looked back and forth between Talia and Roxy who both had diverted their eyes, so they weren't looking at her. Roxy now looked engrossed in her homework. "If your talking about me, I'd rather you just spit it out and say it."
She was met with silence from both of them. She decided to let it go, and went back to her potions essay, scribbling down a couple more lines. She was flipping through her text book trying to find the ingredients for a potion when Roxy finally spoke.
"I don't understand why you're still with him." Roxy finally said, breaking the silence bestowed upon the room.
"Excuse me?" She asked her, turning her head towards her. She grimaced, realizing her words had come out sounding a lot ruder than she had intended.
"I just don't understand why you're still with someone like him." Roxy said blatantly.
Annalise could see Talia shaking her head furiously at Roxy, motioning her to stop talking. "Roxy-" Talia started.
