AS SOON AS SLUGHORN dismissed them, everyone swarmed out of the door, quickly exiting the classroom, eager to get out and enjoy the rest of their day.

There was a reason potions was Annalise's least favorite class. It was torture to sit through Slughorn's lectures about the different ingredients used in potions. It was absolutely useless too! It wasn't like she was going to need to know the chemical properties of asphodel in the real world. She cursed her mom in her mind for making her take that goddamned, awful class.

As they followed the crowd of students up the stairs, and out of the dungeon, they split up. Talia and Asher headed to the library to finish their homework right away like the good students they were. Annalise and James, however, walked back to the common room to relax on the couches and talk to Alex and Roxy. She was the type of student who did her homework in the evening, staying up late to finish it. She wished she did it earlier, but she just couldn't help herself from procrastinating.

As James and her walked back, they got into an argument about quidditch yet again. James had claimed Rudolf Brand was better than Meaghan McCormack and she had gotten pissed.

"Are you delusional?" Annalise asked incredulously. "Brand doesn't even compare to how incredible McCormack is."

"Are you forgetting Brand is a captain. Captain of the Heidelberg Harriers?" James scoffed.

"Pride of Portree would be shit without her." Annalise huffed, simply stating facts. "She isn't captain because she's young. She'll get there soon enough."

"You can't compare someone as experienced as Brand to McCormack." James said shaking his head, as if what she was saying was so preposterous.

"Does anything get into that thick brain of yours Potter?" She scowled, as James started laughing at how agitated she was getting. "I just said how experience doesn't matter when she's clearly better."

"Are you trying to tell me I have a big brain Wood? Because I already know." James smirked. "No wonder I'm a genius!"

She rolled her eyes. "You and I have very interpretations of the word genius then."

As they continued walking, Annalise saw William talking to Eloise as the end of the hallway. The corridor was packed with students, as classes has just ended and everyone was roaming around the castle. He turned, meeting her stare, but she quickly turned away. She didn't want to give him the satisfaction of knowing that she had been watching him and Eloise.

James suddenly stopped. "Oh shoot, I forgot I had to be somewhere!" He muttered, scratching his forehead. "I'll see you later, ok?" He said, as he was about to turn around and leave.

Annalise nodded. She was about to say goodbye before a thought came over her. "Don't freak out." She said in a low voice, giving James a heads up so he reacted in the right way. She lifted herself onto her toes, leaning up and pressing her lips to James' cheek softly. She smiled to herself in satisfaction as she landed back on the heels of her feet, knowing William was watching her. It wasn't a big deal at all, but to him it would be.
