I pay extra

For a shot of espresso

A pineapple cup

The free refill size.

I brag about my backyard

Where my tomatoes grow

I still buy some from the store

When I cook for myself.

The interviewer asks,

"What do you do for fun?"

I respond, "I read."

Not having opened a book in months.

I'm not the kind of person

To own baggy, high waisted pants

To answer emails while

Sipping tea from a white mug with a black initial.

I do not compare myself to others,

I model myself after them.

I am so sorry

I've turned myself into a bootleg copy of no one.

What have I done

to deserve everything I have?
