Do not blame your time and place. Every place is the centre of earth, every place is under the stars.

Two days later

I stir the batter for the pancakes. Jacob has his arms around me from behind and his chin on my neck.

Sugar. It needs some more sugar. I move back to go to the counter, Jacob moves with me like a shadow. I pick up the sugar container and move back to the island. Jacob is still holding onto me.

It's irritating me now. I turn around. "Stop it. Go..." He kisses me before I can complete. I try hard to supress the smile that is forming on my face.

The bell rings.

Jade, one of the two house help we have, rushes to open the door.

Caroline comes in with two of her suitcases.

I shrug out of Jacob's grip and run to her. She smiles upon spotting me and pulls me in a hug.

"I missed you." I say.

"I missed you too." Then she holds me at an arm's length. "I heard about your allergy going bad. How are you feeling?" She asks, concerned.

"Oh I'm good." I answer.

Jacob comes to us too. He picks up her bags. "I'll take them to your room." He says, picks up her bag and goes.

"That's his way of saying welcome back." I say and we both laugh. "You are right on time. Breakfast is almost ready." I go back to the kitchen.

Soon we three settle down on the dining table and start with our breakfast. It feels like our family is complete, which is a completely ridiculous thought.

There is another bell.

"Must be the three." I speculate while Jade opens the door.

But the one who comes in is not any of the three. It is a woman.

She seems to be around fifty but the heavy makeup she is wearing makes it hard to guess her actual age. She has a model like confident walk.

Her hairs are blond, she has an angular jaw with a sharp nose, and pouty lips.

The things that intrigues me is her eye colour. It's exactly the same as Jacob's which is super rare.

Caroline gasps loudly upon seeing her and drops her cutlery. Jacob, whose hand is on top of mine, turns stone cold. Something tells me this lady is bad news.

"Anne.." Caroline says and stand up.

Anne. That name sounds familiar. Wait, isn't she..

"Hello son." She is Jacob's mother! His actual biological mother!

Jacob gets up too. I do the same.

We three step out of the dining area. She walks over to us. She puts a hand on Jacob's cheek. He intakes a sharp breath. It's clear from his eyes that he missed her. He still loves her no matter what he said to me about her.
