Chapter Twenty-Three

* Week Four*

I couldn't judge whether things were going to be the same between Luke and I because he didn't come into school the first day back, and as the week passed, it seemed like he was just having an extra week of break.

I would be lying if I said I didn't miss him. And what made it worse was the lack of contact with him. I almost felt alone.

Hannah kept on meeting up with Derek, Harry and Ellie used that opportunity to spend some alone time together and I was usually sat there, as a fifth wheel - no, not even third but FIFTH, thars how bad it got.

"Are you going to see the game?" Hannah asked.

"Yeah." I nodded. " I just need to drop by my locker."

"I'll go and get some good seats then."

I nodded leaving her and going to my lockers. I didn't really feel like watching the match. The only reason I had gone up till now was to secretly support Luke, I mean yeah Harry was a good friend of mine, but he had Ellie to support him. I sighed shutting my locker. It was too late to back out. I was going to go just for the sake of supporting Harry and because I promised Hannah.

When I reached the bleachers they were packed. I scanned each face until I found my best friend before joining her.

"Is everything alright?" She asked.

I forced a smile. "Yeah of course."

The game seemed to last a decade but it ended in a draw. 4:4.

"That was a great game." Hannah grinned hugging Harry as he joined us with Ellie.

"Yeah it was close." I agreed giving him a hug.

"It's a shame we drew though." He frowned.

"Yeah but you've been winning all the other games." Ellie reassured him.

"That's because Luke was on the team." I bit my lip knowing exactly who that voice belonged to.

"Excuse me?" Ellie asked turning on her heel to face Megan who was standing behind her.

Megan crossed her arms. "Well maybe our team could've won this game if your best friend over there, " she looked at me as an indication and I stared back. "Hadn't scared him off."

My eyebrows shot up. "I scared him off?"

She nodded. "Well," Her eyes checked out my outfit for the day. I had chosen to wear a black floral thin strapped dress and a pair of black heeled booties with a cutout heel, and a buckle at the ankle. "You look like a hooker." I felt myself heat up out of anger. "God knows you probably acted like one around him too, offering him all sorts." I gritted my teeth holding back the explosion that was surfacing. "Your desperation must have just been too much for him and he left. Now see, your stupidity and desperate nature, has created all sorts of other problems just because you couldn't get him in bed with you--" before I knew it I was pushing past my friends, my right fist clenching before it met with Megan's perfectly toned jaw.

I heard gasps behind me and I knew they belonged to my friends. I shook the pain off of my hand and looked down at Megan who was lying on the ground clutching onto her jaw.

She looked up at me. "You bitch!" She then jumped up and launched herself at me, and before I knew it, my back had hit the concrete ground, but the adrenaline didn't let the pain through. Megan was on top of me, kneeling on my hands to keep them down as she picked her own fist up and that's the last thing I saw on my left eye before it was closed by the collision of itself with her fist. I wriggled out from her hold and stood up covering me eye and feeling the blood.

I could feel the crowd of people around as increase as I grabbed onto her bleach blonde hair, she screamed holding onto it herself trying to get it out of my reach. Suddenly I saw her back away, with all her hair to herself and yet I still felt hair between my fingers. I looked at my now open palm and laughed at the sight of her extentions in my hands.

"I think you forgot something hunny." I laughed, hearing people join in.

I watched as Megans nostrils flared with fury. "My hair!"

"I don't think that your actual hair Megan." I smirked.

"You ripped my hair out you f*cking attention seeking whore!" She groaned as she threw herself at me one more time but this time I managed to defend myself and throw her off. She didn't back down though and ran at me again aiming her claw of nails at my face. I closed my eyes blocking my face with my hands which suddenly sparked with the pain of having ten claws dug into them.

I screamed. "You're f*cking mental Megan--" I was suddenly crying in pain, rolling in a ball, on the floor, clutching onto my stomach which had just been kneed.

"What was that Benson?" Megan smirked,  turning me over onto my back, lifting her fist up and I knew what was coming. I closed my eyes fearing the moment but it never came. I opened my eyes to see the crowd dispersing, as my head teacher ran into the centre full of panic, pulling Megan off of me. She was screaming, like a maniac while I lay on the ground trying to gasp for some air which I couldn't get enough off.

I looked around too see that the only people still surround us were my best friends. Ellie looked as if she was about to cry, Harry was glaring angrily at Megan and Hannah had her hands clasped over her mouth.

"Hannah, Ellie," I heard my headmaster say. "Please take Chloe and get her cleaned up." My best friends nodded in reply. "Harry, please help me get this one to my office." Harry sighed, not even trying to hide his dismay.  My best friends rushed over to me, picking me up and helping me to the toilets.

"What happened?" Hannah asked.

"You saw." I spoke and regretted it at the sting of my cut lip.

Ellie shook her head. "No we didn't. We got pushed back by the crowd and couldn't push through to help you."

It was like a sudden weight was lifted off my shoulders. For the whole fight all I was thinking about was where were my friends and why weren't they helping me. It pissed me off that neither of them intervened. But after realising they couldn't I understood.

"Neither of us gave up." My words weren't clear considering I was trying to talk while avoiding my lips touching.

"Chlo why would you even--"

"What she was saying--" I sighed. "I don't know. It stung."

"But you know its not true. Its Megan for f*ck sake! You never let her get to you." Hannah pointed out.

"Her words made me think. Maybe she's right." I shrugged.

"Chloe don't even--"

"Maybe I did come across as too desperate. Or maybe Luke is just completely bored of me because of the amount of time we spent together." I told them.

"You know that's not true--"

"Thats the thing Ellie. No I don't. And I have no way of knowing because its been over four weeks and he still hasn't bothered to contact me in any way." I pointed out. "It's just pathetic how much time I kept thinking that he might care. And its sad that I've been waiting four weeks."

"Chloe this isn't you." Ellie shook her head.

"Chloe, you need a break. That double date wasn't enough." Hannah said. "I don't care if you two have plans,  we're going to the beach on the weekend."

"Guys I--"

"No Chloe. I don't care." Hannah grinned. "We're gonna get him off your mind whether you want us to or not.

But that's the thing. I had no idea what i wanted anymore.
