Chapter Twenty-Four

*Week Five*

It had been three days since the Megan incident. That day we had a parent meeting to give us a warning and the usual lecture of how words are the way to solve issues. Neither of us got any major punishment, but starting Monday we had an hour after school every day for a week. Happy days.

Megan hadn't attended school since our fight, and as expected I didn't care or bother to ask anyone.

Obviously the school halls and corridors were filled with juicy gossip and rumours, along the lines of her being excluded from school, being pregnant with my secret boyfriends child,  me sleeping with her secret boyfriend, and rumours even more absurd.

I didn't listen to them. I wasn't one to believe rumours and let it get to me. It was sad and usually bullshit.

Finally it was Sunday had come though and our trip to the beach was scheduled for today. Luckily, the weather was looking on point for the day so a nice relaxing stress-free day was on the cards.

I put on my newly bought peach coloured Triangl bikini, under a pair of bleach blue denim high waisted ripped shorts and a purple tank top with 'outsider' printed on it. After slipping on a pair of low black vans, I grabbed my bag and made my way to the kitchen to get some breakfast.

"You know, you're bruises seem to be going quite quickly." My mum complimented as I made myself toast.

"I know. I'm so glad." I told her.

"I still don't understand why you won't tell me what it was about." She sighed.

I shrugged. "Because it's not important mum."

"It obviously is!" She argued. "You practically got your face ripped off."

I rolled my eyes. "You're such a drama queen."

"One day when you--"

"Have kids of my own, I'll understand how stressful it is to be a mother and will be as protective of my kids as you are of us. Yeah, I know mum." I groaned, finishing her sentence which I knew too well.

"I hope you do." She said before going back to read her paper.

Half an hour later I heard Hannah's car outside.

"Finally I needed to get out of that house." I said hopping in the backseat.

Ellie chuckled. "What's wrong?"

"My mum's trying to find out what the fight was about."

"You still haven't told her?" Ellie asked.

I shook my head.  "Nope."

" How come?" Hannah asked. "You've always been quite close to your mum."

"Because its about Luke. My mum would tell his mum the second I'd be out of the room,  and its bound to get to him. I want to avoid that." I told them.

"So still nothing?" Ellie asked.

"Nothing." I shrugged.

"Well," Hannah let go of the wheel to clasp her hands together. "That's what today's for."
