Cole's POV

I coughed until I felt my lungs burning, my head was dizzy, and my hearing fading.

"Come on, hurry up!" A distant voice was shouting at me.

I looked to my right, the night sky and the stars that lit it was all I could make out. I looked to my left, Zac.

The voice was not distant it was next to me. It was him.

"We're almost there." He spoke softly to me.

Was I dying? His arms were around me keeping me up straight, one hand was holding my chest. Oh yeah..I was shot. I knew this, but I couldn't do much about it. I couldn't control much of my own movements.

We reached the van and Zac took off his mask, I had now just realized he also took my mine off a while back. It was probably so I could breathe better. It wouldn't have mattered anyway, especially now that the dad of Katie is dead.

"I'm going to put you in the back so you can stay laying down." He told me.

Zac opened the van door and out flung Katie running for her life.

"God Dammit!" I was dropped to the floor as Zac ran off after her.

I needed to get in the van. I used all of my strength to pull myself up, now holding the bleeding hole in my chest.

"You've made a very big mistake, sweetheart." I could hear the anger erupting from his belly.

Zac returned with Katie, pulling her by the hair. He threw her in the back with me and shut the door.

She cried into her hands before wiping them on her pajamas and crawling over to me. Zac started the engine and drove off.

"What are you doing?" I groaned as Katie moved my hand and replaced it with hers.

"He told me to put pressure on it." She hiccuped out.

"Everything is gonna be fine buddy, I'm taking you home Max will patch you up!" Zac said with little to no hope is his voice.

My eyes had closed and my breathing slowed. This was going to be it - I thought. This is how I die. I took one last breath and was suddenly jolted awake by a horrible throbbing pain.

"Stay still!" Max yelled.

We had made it back home. Jesse and Alec were on both of my sides holding me down telling me not to move. It hurt like a son of Bitch though.

I watched as Max dug into my chest pulling out the bullet. I screamed with everything I had while the boys pushed me deeper in the floor of the van making sure I would stay still.

"There we go. I got it." A sigh of relief washed over Max's face. The shiny blood covered bullet was the last thing I saw before passing out once again.

_______

A hard slap woke up me. It was Zac.

"Sleep well?" He huffed.

I was in the living room.

"Uhhh" I let out, sitting up immediately regretting it and fall back to the couch I was on.

"Yeah...it'll hurt for a while." Max came around the corner from the kitchen to talk.

"I saved your life. You owe me one." He winked while laughing softly.

"Yeah. Whatever." I groaned making myself sit up this time.

"Where is she?" I turned my head to Zac.

"Alec's room. He called dibs." Zac grinned, proudly of his little brothers action. Max rolled his eyes obviously angry about it.

"It's time for the girls to start breakfast, I'll go get Emily since you're not really in walking up stairs condition yet." Jesse mocked as he went past me to go get Emily.

Emily...she's going to be so terrified after she finds out whats happened. Maybe she'll fall in line now. My mind was battling between feeling guilty for what has happened and feeling good that I accomplished something so evil.

"Let's get you to the table." Max broke my thoughts and lifted me from the couch. I hobbled my way to sit in the dining room.

It was only about 20 minutes before the food was being brought out to us. The 3 girls came out of the kitchen all carrying a tray with them. Katie must still be in Alec's room, probably won't be out for a while. There was an open chair next to me and I watched Emily's eyes as she made the decision to sit in it. She was still mine, but soon to be Zac's - we just needed to announce to change.

"This smells great." Zac complemented the girls cooking.

"Did she help?" He added on whilst looking in Emily's direction.

"No." Jenny simply said. Oh no. Bad start to the day already.

"You Bitch." She spat to Jenny. It's getting even worse. I grabbed Emily's arm with force and stood up moving the chairs from behind our legs. I breathed in my pain and tried to keep a steady face.

"Wait. I'll take care of it." Zac said standing from his chair and walking over. Thank God.

"You've had quite the night. I think you could use a break." Zac winked. Knowing what he meant by this was tricky. Was it because we took Katie? Because I screamed at the now dead father of hers? Because I was shot? Who knows? Who cares? I sat back down not making eye contact with Emily as she passed by.

Zac took place of my hands and lead Emily away. It was official now, I'm assuming anyway. Emily was no longer my problem. She was no longer mine.
