Dancing around lightly in your snow globe,
You don't care that nobody knows.
You two want this purity to last,
Slow things down, don't go too fast.
I can see from up here that he is the one for you,
And I know for a fact that this love you've found is true.
So as long as your love remains alive,
The 80s will never die.

He was born into chaos,
His parents were offering him the chance to get lost.
Fled from the fire at just fourteen,
I can't imagine how scary that must've been.
Started school with no friends,
Everything worked out for him in the end.
He met the one he'd one day marry,
Introduced by a friend, offering a heart he should carry.

They started dating in 1984,
A romantic comedy scored by Tina Turner.
They only ever had each other,
Nobody else to love them, to shield them with covers.
He stood her up on their first date,
But, still somehow, she still thought he was great.
She let the embarrassment slide for just that one time,
And six years later, nobody proposed,
But she still found herself wearing white.

Vacations together they hoped would last forever,
Making friends in strange places in order to make memories and stories to tell me.
Stories full of laughter and smiles, told perfectly.
Death bonded them for life,
She was there for him when he felt fates' cruel knife.
Fast forward five years and a miracle occurred,
I arrived into the world with cause and a few words.

They've done everything for me in my twenty years on this earth,
And I couldn't be more grateful to have them to show me my worth.
I love you both more than I could ever show,
I don't need to say that, I know you know.
So, mom and dad, as long as I remain alive,
The love you give off will never die.
And the first glances you two shared,
Will make me strive to do something greater somewhere.
As long as I remain alive,
The love you give off will never die.
