Chapter 9 ♡

ABEL

The next morning I woke up from the sun shining bright on my face. I sat up, and was confused for a second at my surroundings.

That's until I turn my head to the side, and see Kai asleep beside me. I can't believe we slept on the roof, this was the first for me.

We must've talk for hours and eventually passed out.

Last night I was upset about the problems at home, my momma came home crying again.

I took a harcore drug to deal with the hurt, but it didn't help.

It made shit wrose, but I found comfort in Kai's presence.

"Kai." I called to wake her up.

She woke up instantly and I chuckle when she looks around confused.

"Did we really fall alseep on the roof?" She questioned.

"I asked myself the same thing. I never thought I would ever sleep on a roof in my life." I say laughing.

She laughs as well. "Same here."

I pull my phone out of my pocket and read the time. "Shit, we're definitely late for school."

"Not that you really care." She says nonchalant.

I laugh. "I know, but you do."

"Not really, as long as I make it on time to my next class."

"Well you should probably get ready now." I say standing up, and making my way down to her bedroom window.

"Abel wait." She says as she grabs my arm and pulls me back gently.

I turn to look at her without saying a word.

"Are you okay?" She asks.

Last night it was clear I was a fucking mess.

"I'm good." I say with a reassuring nod.

I'll be fine.

We head back into her room for a minute.

"You're not ditching school again, are you?" She asks.

I smirk. "You missed me didn't you?"

Kai smacks her lips. "Whatever."

She knows very well that she did miss me, but she won't tell me that.

I chuckle "I'm going go take a shower, I'll see you there."

As soon as Abel leaves I take a shower, get ready, and then head downstairs.

That's where I find Nora in the kitchen washing dishes.

"Goodmorning." I say.

Nora looks over her shoulder at me with a surprised look.

"What are you still doing here? I thought you were at school. I checked your bedroom and you weren't there."

"I was on the roof, I go up there sometimes at night. I ended up falling asleep, and overslept."

Nora looks at me funny. "That's a strange place to sleep sweetie. Be careful."

I laugh. "I know, I will."

Nora finishes up the dishes, turns off the faucet, and drys off her hands.

"Derrick was cursing this morning thinking you left to school without him."

I brush my hands down my face. "Yeah he's going to kill me."

Nora looks down at her watch. "Well sweetie it's late. I don't mind if you stay home today. Just don't make it a habit."
