“Hey!” Grace yelled as the screen flickered off. I closed my eyes waiting for the impending lecture I was bound to get. “Daddy!” She squealed jumping up and running over to him, wrapping him into a hug.

My eyes flew open to see a guy in a dark blue suit with a light blue tie standing in the doorway. His hair was short and black and he had piercing green eyes. He looked alot like Asher, but older.

“Hey Baby, hey Nora.” He nodded to me and then looked around, “Where’s your brother?”

“He’s out.” Grace shrugged pulling out of the hug.

“Isn’t he grounded? I’m sure I grounded him before I left.” He shook his head anger etched on his face. I felt bad, if I wasn’t ‘missing’ he probably wouldn’t be out and he wouldn’t get into trouble.

“Yeah he is. I could call him.” Her eyes shining with happiness sending me a wink. No this can’t be happening I don’t want him in any trouble. I just want payback thats all. I can’t let this happen.

“Sir.” I turned to Grace’s dad trying to get him to listen to me, “this isn’t his fault, I mean if...” I started to explain when the front door opened with a bang causing us all to turn in that direction. I couldn’t see him due to his dad standing in front of me.

“Ah, there you are.” his dad greeted him, “and were you aware that you were still grounded?”

  “Dad I-,” He began.

I sighed, I can’t let this happen. “He was looking for me.” I told him stepping out from behind his dad.

“And why was he looking for you?”

“I-I didn’t go home last night. Hunter got worried and asked Asher to help him look for me.” I told him avoiding his judging stare.

“Maybe I should have a talk with your father, or maybe I should go to the county...”

“Dad.” Asher glared while Grace and I gasped. He wouldn’t, would he?

“Well we can’t have teenagers running around doing whatever the hell they want.” He glared, “You know what going to the county doesn’t seem like a bad idea.” He nodded smiling a little as he stuffed his hands in his pockets.

“You can’t, daddy it’ll ruin them.” Grace pleaded with him. But he just nodded and smirked.

“The fuck old man.” Asher growled storming up to him. I gasped in surprise, I’ve never seen him this angry before. “You let us do whatever we want, you and mom are always away doing some stupid shit. You don’t give a fuck about us. But you had a choice Nora’s doesn’t. Her mom’s in the hospital and her dad is working, raising a family and keeping a home. Yeah things are a little crazy but at least he’s trying.”

“You will not talk to me like that.” his dad gasped then turned to me, glaring harshly. “and you can leave.” I nodded with tears in my eyes as I quickly made my way out of the door without another glance back.

I was half way home when I heard him. “Nora!” Asher’s voice rang around me, I turned around as he quickly made his way to me. “Don’t cry.” He cooed in my ear wrapping me in his arms. “Please don’t cry, I won’t let him hurt you.”

“He hates me.” I shook my head as I cried into his chest, “It’s all my fault. I’m such a bad person.”

“Hey, hey,” He pulled me away from him so he could look me in the eyes, “no you’re not. If it’s anyone’s fault it’s mine. I shouldn’t have said those things yesterday, I’m sorry. I’m so so sorry.”

“You don’t have-,” I was cut off by his lips pressed to mine. I was frozen in surprise at the sudden contact but he didn’t let up and soon enough my lips were moving with his. I lost my train of thought as he grabbed my face deepening the kiss causing me to wrapped my arms around his neck running my fingers through his hair and tugging at the nape of his neck to pull him closer to me.

A honk had us jumping apart, ragged and out of breath. “Hey you two love birds, get in were going home.” Hunter called from the car. I blushed, I just made out in front of my brother! But then again he’s done it to me but that didn’t make it any less embarrassing.

Asher laughed and turned holding out his hand for me, “I did have to. But I’m not done apologizing either. Be prepared.”

I smiled taking his hand as we ran to the car. “Asher?” I tugged on his hand when he reached for the handle, he looked confused and I smiled standing on my tippy toes and pressed my lips to his quickly before pulling away. He touched his lips with his other hand, a smile spreading across his face.

“What was that for?” He asked huskily.

  “Thanks. For everything.”
