(This is a Country Humans fic)
Malay was lying in his bed, wrapped in his blanket. He gently weak and uncomfortable. He knew that he was sick. He coughed softly as he slowly sat up, only to be hit with a dizziness. He heard a knock on his door.
"C...come in..." he said with a hoarse voice. The door slowly opened to reveal an annoyed Indo whose face immediately turned to concern when he saw how red Malay face looked like. " Are you alright?" Indo said as he walked towards the other man, and put his palm against Malay's forehead.
"You're burning up! Why didn't you tell me that you're having a fever?" Malay just shrugged. "Don' wanna...bother you... I'm okay..." Indo sighed and looked at him. "You're not okay, I'll make you some porridge, okay? Lie down," he gently pushed the sick male to lie down. Malay was too weak to fight him so he just lay down.
He must have fallen asleep at some point because one he woke up, Phil was there. "Phil...?" his voice sounded weak and hoarse that even he knew that he was too sick. "Hey there buddy," Phil said softly. "You don't look so good," Malay just hummed tiredly and looked at Phil. "Phil?" "Yes? Do you need anything?" Malay nodded. " 'm hungry... Indo...Indo said he'd make some porridge..." he said softly.
Phil couldn't help but smile at Malay's rare side. His soft side. "Yeah, want me to feed you?" to his surprise, Malay nodded shyly. "If.. If you don't mind?" he muttered shyly. "I don't mind at all, " Phil said as he started to feed Malay the porridge. Malay hummed in delight at the taste of the porridge and Phil really have a hard time trying not to coo at him.
Indo came in with some meds and sat on the other side of the bed. Smiling down at the sick man softly. "How's the porridge?" he asked. Malay smiled at him, "delicious... Thank you.." he said a shyly. Indo ruffled his hair gently. "It's a no problem at all, we'll take care of you. Okay?" Phil nodded in agreement. "Thanks guys..." Malay said with a small smile. "Well you always take care of us when we're sick, it's our turn now," Phil replied as he put away the empty bowl of porridge and hands Malay a glass of water. "Drink some water, then eat your meds. Then sleep, okay?" Malay just nodded at him, taking the meds. He was already blinking sleepily at the other two.
"Sleep, Malay. We'll be here when you wake up," he nodded and fell asleep, knowing that he won't wake up alone.
That night, it was raining heavily with a loud clap of thunder and a bright flash of lightning. The wind was howling loudly. Both Indo and Phil were awaken by the sound of a terrified scream. They both got up from the couches they were sleeping on and rushed to Malay's room. Indo opened the door immediately and was stunned to see Malay, sitting up on the bed with his hands cupping his ears. There were tears running down his reddened cheeks.
"Malay?" Phil said softly so that he won't spook the other guy. However, Malay still startled at the voice and looked up at the two guys. "Indo...? Phil...?" Indo walked up to him and sat down next to him with Phil sitting on the other side. "We're here.. What's wrong, Mal? Are you hurt? Did you have a nightmare?" Indo asked gently. He was worried because he had never seen Malay cried before. Let alone looking terrified and small like he was at the moment.
At that moment, there's sudden flash of bright lightning could be seen outside the window and loud clap of thunder roaring afterwards. Malay screamed and hid his face in Indo's chest without thinking. He was shivering in fear. Both Phil and Indo knew immediately what was going on. Malay was scared of the thunder and lightning.
"Malay... Are you... Are you scared of thunder and lightning?" Phil asked hesitantly. Malay slowly nodded. "I.. I know... It's childish... I know that I'm.. I'm a grown man and.. And I shouldn't have been scared of it.. But.. But... They always.. Always brings me bad memories... My... My family left me all alone during a rainstorm when I was a kid... I... I was stuck in the car with... With their dead bodies for hours until.. Until helped arrived... I'm.. I'm scared of being left alone again... The rainstorm will always remind me of the family I lost and the long hours I had to stay with their bodies..." he was sobbing by the end of his sentence.
