A Dangerous Game ~ Kurtz

~ Chapter Nine ~

With the former Serpent travelling behind, Kurtz opened the doors to the previously raided gargoyle lair. Gargoyles stares as the young girl who continued to walk through. Many even tried to scare her. After a few minutes they were finally on the top floor, where Kurtz' room stood.
The dark haired boy gestured his hand for her to sit down, nervously she did so.
"Just ignore them, they're just not use to Serpents walking in this place without wanting a fight" he told her, trying to calm her worries.
She smiled at Kurtz' words, her heart rate finally slowing back down.
"Thank you" she whispered. "For letting me stay" she added.
He shrugged it off, and continued to make what he could for a bed.
"I'll sleep down her, take the bed" he smiled.
Valencia looked at him again, "are you sure?" She asked.
"Yeah it's fine, get some sleep and we'll figure out things with your brother tomorrow." He said.
Val nodded, "goodnight Kurtz."
"Goodnight Princess."

The very next day, Val and Kurtz were planning how to not make her brother suspicious of their doings. He didn't mind Sweet Pea knowing, Kurtz wasn't scared of him, however he knew that it would ruin the relationship between Sweets and her, so he decided to go along with it.

Taking a deep breath Valencia entered the trailer, to her surprise Sweet Pea wasn't waiting for her. In fact he hadn't even slept in the trailer himself, his bed was still made and everything clean.
Valencia felt relieved that she wouldn't have to lie yet again to her brother.
Going out to grab some lunch from the diner, Valencia sees her brother, Fangs, Jughead and FP gathered outside.
Once they noticed the girl, they didn't even call her over, just glared rather. Slightly confused she continued to Pops, a sinking feeling in her stomach. What if they know?

Hours passed and not a single word for any of the Serpents. She sighed knowing this was going to end badly.
Glancing down at her phone, Sweet Pea called her.
"Hey sis, erm can you meet us at Gargoyle ground 0?" Sweets asked.
"Yeah...why" she hesitated.
"Just come down here." And with that he hung up. Something wasn't right.

"Hey guys" she plastered on a smile as she entered the hangout. FP looked at her suspiciously where as Jughead got right to the point.
"Did you tell Kurtz we were setting him up last night?" He questioned.
"...no" she stuttered.
"Where were you last night Valencia." He brother asked sternly.
"Out at a friends, like I told you" she lied again.
"No. Listen here Valencia, and listen close. Kurtz isn't your friend, he's the enemy of the Serpents and he is a dangerous criminal. He isn't who you may think he is or tells you he is. He'll corrupt you. Everyone here including you, knows that you were with Kurtz, we saw you run. Now either you start being honest with us or we won't be able to trust you anymore." FP warned.
"You want me to be honest? Okay fine then, I know you won't want to hear this but yes I told Kurtz about your plan. Yes I followed you to the hideout and carried on running with him. Yes I stayed the night at his hideout. And yes he is my friend and I trust him. Think what you like but that won't change, if that means loosing my jacket, so be it." She rambled angrily. Valencia has finally snapped and her brother looked as shocked at the others. Sweet Pea didn't think she would go this far, she was willing to give up her jacket. That's how much Kurtz had gotten under her skin and what it took to turn her against them.
"Fine you know what? Leave." Sweet Pea demanded, tears in his eyes over his sisters betrayal.
The girl backed away and headed home. Tonight is going to be one hell of a night.
