He must have understood from my expression what I was about to say because he added, "Okay, then here is what I am going to do." He give a dramatic pause. "For every time you don't stand up for yourself, I will make sure that they know their places."

I opened my mouth to speak, but he interrupted me. "You're welcome." He smiled.

"You do know, that will put me into more trouble?" I questioned him.

He smiled, "I got your back, Izzy."

"How do you know my name?"

He leaned forward as I moved back. He chuckled as he tap my bag with my keychain hanging.

"Dang it." I muttered.

"Yes, dang it!" He said. "Let's get out of here."

"Don't you have to go and check those guys or practice?" I asked.

"You think I have time for them?" He questioned me. "I will drop you home." He offered.

"I am good, I can go home by myself." I said awkwardly as I moved back.

He smiled, "But is it a good idea?"

"What do you mean?"

"You are a deer in this situation and all of them." He pointed with his chin towards the field. "They are predators watching your moves and waiting to pounce on you and I, in this case is trying to protect you from these predators."

"I am not a deer." I pointed out.

"You are similar to one." He said.

"You don't have to protect me, I can protect myself." I said, in annoyance.

"Today is the most I have seen you speak, it's nice to know you can communicate your thoughts to me."

I frowned.

"Let's get going." He pulled me by my sleeve gently towards his sleek car.

"I don't think it is a good idea." I said.

"I think it is perfect." He replied as he opened the passenger door for me.

I hesitated, "I have the whole evening free and I can wait until you are ready." As he smiled at me.

"Why do I find your behaviour so suspicious?"

"You should definitely find my motive suspicious." He agreed. "I am not always nice, you know?"

"I know that." I answered.

"Glad you know that." He said.

I sighed as I slipped into his car, his car was clean and beautiful. His car smelled like citrus.

"Whose class are you in?" He asked as he punched my address into his GPS.

"Mrs. Scott." I answered.

"You are in the same class as me?" He give me a quick look of surprise.

"Surprise." I said, sarcastically.

He did not say anything as he drove silently. I was glad that the distance to my house was short as we soon pulled over to the place I  am staying.

"Your house is nice." He commented.

"Temporary home." I said to myself as I took off the seat belt. "Thanks." I said.

"No worries." He said. "See you tomorrow?" It sounded like a question to me.

"Do I have a choice?" I asked him.

"Nope." He smiled. "Let me correct, I will see you tomorrow."

I just shrugged as I got out of his car and walked towards the door. I see him pulled out of the drive way as soon as I entered home I see the family photo hanging on the wall. Cameron and Allison was nice enough to include me in their family pictures and they even put my pictures around the house with Matthew's, which at times burns my heart because I know this is temporary and I am temporary here.

No one was home which was not unusual, I opened the fridge to check if there was anything I like, I decided to make myself some sandwiches, so that I can start my homework.

Allison came home later and she smiled as soon as she saw me, "How was school, honey?" She asked as she give me a side hug.

"Same old." I said as I returned the hug, at the beginning I used to feel so awkward to give hugs to her, but now I am used to it as its been a while since I have been staying here.

" Let's do girl's day out, this Sunday?" She asked. Every other week, Allison and I have this thing where we go out the whole day, it's either shopping, spas or some trips.

"Sure." I said, I expected this week would be our outing as I have already booked an off from work that day.

"Perfect, I will get started with dinner. I am cooking your favourite." She smiled. "Alfredo pasta." And my eyes widened.

"Thank you." I said, feeling very appreciated.

"You finish your homework. I will see you later." She kissed my head, gently as she walked towards the kitchen.

Half-way through, Matthew comes home and plop himself on the couch and sighed loudly.

"What's up?" I asked him.

"Our club have to raise funds - which will proceed to charities, but we have very less volunteers."

"Sad?" I said as I continued with my work.

"That's it?" Matthew said in disbelief as he stood up and walked to me. "Sad?"

"What else do you want me to say?" I asked looking at him.

"Right." He sighed. "Not like you can help me."

"Exactly." I said.

He groaned and said, "I am going to take a shower and I will take a nap."

"Okay." I said.

"Your one word answer is always so frustrating." He teased.

I rolled my eyes at him and he smiled. "You should seriously skip wearing glasses in school."

I raised one of my eyebrow at him. "You always wear such big glasses, that it hides your face." He shrugged.

"Just one more year of school." I shrugged.

"One more year to go, girl." He ruffled my hair and walked towards the stairs.

"You got it, right." I said as I looked at my notebook.

"You got one more year to twist the story." He said looking back with a smile.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"You are smart, you know what I mean." He grinned.

"What if I say, I have no idea what you are talking about?"

"You will learn very soon." He said as he ran up the stairs, leaving me with questions and assumptions.

That night during dinner, Cameron suddenly stood up and said, "Oh, I left something outside. Izzy, you want to help me?" He asked randomly as he looked at Allison and Matthew with a look and they give a secretive smile to me.

"Sure?" I said as I stood up and followed behind him. Right outside the driveway, I see a brand new Volkswagen in the driveway. He pulled out a key and said, "Surprise." As I see Allison and Matthew taking pictures.

"Are you serious?" I asked them, gasping.

"Now you don't have to freeze in the bus stop." Matthew joked.

"I can't." I stammered. This is too much.

"You are part of this family, honey." Allison reminded as I burst into tears.
