The dragon lunged down. Winger flew up into the air, fire hissing up in his mouth. The dragon was green, with a lone neck and a mane of black fur on it's neck. It's head was crowned with ivory-white horns, and it's limbs were covered in spikes. It growled and shot a burst of flame.
Winger dodged, shooting one of his power blasts at the dragon, who hissed and narrowed it's eyes. It jumped off a tree, spreading it's wings as it lunged for Winger. It knocked Dak off the saddle and fell to the ground with the boy.
"DAK!" Winger shouted, plunging down after him. The dragon was crouched above Dak, holding the boy's arm in it's mouth. Winger tackled it to the ground. "RUN, DAK!" he shouted. "I'LL HOLD IT OFF!" Dak looked hesitant. "GO GET HELP!" Winger roared. "DON'T WORRY ABOUT ME! I'LL BE FINE!"
Dak ran.
The dragon's spikes poked at Winger's scales, digging into them. Every time Winger tried to get a good grip on the dragon, spines poked at him and he had to retreat his paw. Winger looked at Dak's disappearing figure. I hope you get help in time, he thought.
