He watched her run across the lawn to the maid's house, slamming open the door and calling out.

He wanted to run after her and carry her back, she ran with only a hospital gown covering her body, the flimsy material flying in the wind.

Feeling frustrated, he ran his hand over his hair, walking back to his office. It was large and the walls were full of books, and files.

Walking beside the bookcase, he ran his fingers over the spines, feeling different textures, he knew almost all of these books and their contents. His hand stopped in front of a book, 'Etiquette'.

He had no idea what it was, he had never noticed this particular book before. He pulled it out of the shelf. Any normal person wouldn't have noticed the little switch at the back, but he did.

Switching it, the little section swivelled to reveal a passcode lock.

He opened the book, and true to its title, it was Etiquette, table etiquette. But on the first page, the numbers 3, 1, 5 and 0 were bolded. He typed those into the lock and it flashed green.

The whole bookshelf moved back and to the side, revealing another mini bookshelf, there were only a few folders. How had he not noticed this before?

Reprimanding himself, he took the folders and closed the bookshelf door, slamming the folders onto his desk and sitting down.

The yellow folders looked old, the edges breaking a bit on each one. The title on the one on top was 'Experiment 148', it only had three pieces of papers inside with a simple birth year, alias and occupation as well as a few handwritten notes on the first page. It was Marcello's father's writing.

Birth year - 1994

Alias - Emma

Occupation - Assassin

Notes:

18/5/2004 - 148 has potential, but she cares too much, and tends to hesitate before getting the job done

Over the page was a large red stamp that read, 'TERMINATED'.

The two other pages were mission reports, the clients' information only displayed that they were broke druggies who owed them money.

The next and only other folder was thick, Marcello opened it.

Birth year - 2002

Alias - Lorelai

Occupation - Baiter and Assassin

Notes:

5/3/15 - 524 is excellent, perfect. She is a perfect assassin, I can trust her to eliminate my enemies.

10/8/17 - 524 is the best I've ever seen in baiting, I've met her once and she shows no emotions, she seems heartless, and that is perfect.

The other pages were filled with dozens of mission reports, for targets killed and targets baited.

Marcello's eyes widened, so this was the infamous Lorelai that struck fear into people's hearts, and she was only 15 at the time, she would be around 18 now.

Ever since Marcello's takeover, word of Lorelai had stopped, it was like she disappeared off the face of the earth. No one besides his father, a few others and her victims knew her true identity, but her victims never survived. And the others who knew had passed. He remembered the dreaded phone call he got in the middle of the night.

The annoying beeping woke a groaning Marcello, who begrudgingly picked up the phone at his bedside, ignoring the naked girl beside him.

"What?" He growled into the phone, pissed at the disruption of his sleep.

"Don, your father, and one of his capos have been killed in a gang shoot out." Marcello shot up in bed, everything becoming a blur as his rage overtook him, "You are now our Don sir." The voice continued.

"What gangs were involved in the shootout?" He saw red.

After naming a handful of gangs, the man on the other side of the line could feel Marcello's anger radiate from the phone, the silence that endured was deathly frightening.

"Eliminate them, call everyone to the conference room, those gangs are going to wish they never crossed me." He slammed the phone down and barked at the now confused naked girl to get out of his room.

There was a knock on the door and he muttered a "Come in,"

Bambina walked into the room, wearing simple leggings and a hoodie, covering up the bandages on her arms.

"Yes?" He spoke concisely, extremely annoyed at her for leaving so abruptly.

"I would like to apologise for my behaviour," she bit her lip and looked away from his eyes.

"Hmm," he hummed and leant back in his chair, looking at her with a raised brow.

Gesturing for her to sit, she sat across from him, her fingers entangling themselves.

Looking up shyly, her eyes widened in surprise as she was able to read the file upside down. 'Lorelai' the name was typed in bold on the top of the page, a name she hadn't seen in ages - a year and a half to be exact.

"I didn't mean to act that way" She looked up into his green eyes, that showed no emotion as they stared back at her emotion-filled one.

"What way did you mean to act?"

She did not expect that question, but she was always prepared for any situation, "I meant to act kinder."

"No one can act kinder than you," he scoffed, annoyance peaking in his face.

He was trying to test her patience, that wasn't going to work, she knew what he was trying to do.

"Well, I still like to try," she placed a bright smile on her face.

It was silent for a few minutes, the tick-tock of the clock echoing in the room.

"Are you doing anything for the rest of the day?" She questioned.

"Later on tonight, why?"

"What are you doing later tonight?" She swung her legs back and forth in her chair.

"I'm going to a club."

"Why?" She lent forward in the chair, her interests piqued.

"There's a target there." Was all he said.

"Can I go?" she jumped up and down in her seat, "Pretty please?"

"The physical appearance of the please doesn't matter." He rolled his eyes.

"With a cherry on top?" She flashed her teeth in a smile.

"No, it's too dangerous." Marcello shook his head.

"Yeah, but you'll be there," she tapped her finger on her chin.

"So?"

"Are you doubting your ability to protect me?" She internally smirked.

On the outside, her eyes were wide in question, her head slightly tilted, but inside, she knew it, she knew she got him.

Marcello Marsalis' abilities and strengths should never be questioned.
