LOVE ME OR NOT

Jeongukk woke up in the middle of the night, feeling and hearing a vibration coming from his nightstand. He rubbed his eyes sleepily, grabbing his phone and then reading the caller ID.

Tae Taes Mom 🥺💗

He furrowed his eyebrows, wondering why his ex-boyfriends mom was calling him. His heart stopped for a moment, remembering the day Tae put that contact information in for him. They were so happy. Well, he was so happy.

He let it ring, considering the fact that she could be calling the wrong number. How awkward would it be to answer, and then have to explain that this was Jeongukk, as she realized her mistake and hung up.

But no, she kept calling, even if he had let it ring twice already.

So he answered, ready for an embarrassing conversation.

"Hello?" He said, his voice still a little deep from sleep.

"Jeongukk?" She questioned. And Jeongukk couldn't help but sense a panic in her voice. It was worrying, so he sat up in his bed a little.

"Yes. Yeah, it's Jeongukk." He answered.

"Jeongukk, I'm sorry honey. I know this must be an uncomfortable situation for you, but I don't know what to do." She continued.

"Oh..no, it's okay. What's wrong?"

"Oh well, you see..Taehyung got into an accident." She barely said the last part, it coming off as a whisper, almost like she was having difficulty saying it.

At this point Jeongukk was already standing up, walking to his light switch to turn it on. He too was now panicked, but he couldn't help but wonder why she called him out of all people.

"He just woke up, but he keeps calling for ..you." She explained, as he paced around his room.

"I know it's strange, I'm so sorry-but I'm not sure what to do." She went on, and jungkook could tell that she was crying although she tried to play it off as if she wasn't.

"No don't worry. I'll be there, okay." He assured her, searching through his closet for a shirt, as his phone was held between the side of his head and his shoulder.

"Thank you.." She trailed off, the situation obviously difficult for her. "..I'll text you where we are."

"Okay." He replied, "ill see you."

She replied another "thank you", before hanging up.

He glanced at his phone, the time reading "2:34am" but he still had no doubts about going.

But, he still thought about why Taehyung was calling for him. It was a little strange, but Jeongukk still cared for him, even if the boy might not have cared for him as much.

He threw his hoodie on, running down the stairs to find his father who was getting ready for work.

"Hey. Where are you going?" He questioned as Jeongukk had a semi-panicked expression on his face.

He forgot about the fact that his dad was up and about at the time.

"U-um, I have to go to the hospital." He explained, the words not flowing out quite right.

"What? Why? Are you hurt?" He groaned, scratching his head, his eyes obviously desperately trying to stay open.

"No-" He answered, immediately getting cut off.

"Then go back to bed, you're probably delirious." He turned around, searching the fridge.

"No..I- Taes in the hospital." He explained, now worried about the fact that his father might not let him leave.

"Taehyung?" He asked, and jeongukk nodded.

"His mom called and said he's asking for me, please let me go." He pleaded.

His dad would have normally told him to go back to bed, and not leave this early in the morning, but something in his expression and voice told him that he should let him leave. Plus, Taehyung was a nice boy from what he knows.

"okay." He said simply, shocking the boy a little bit.

"Okay?"

He nodded.

"Okay. Okay, I'm going. Goodbye." He greeted, running out the door quickly.

"Jeongukk, Thank you for coming." Taes mom smiled, although it looked a bit down. She pulled him in for a hug as he hugged back.

It was then when he realized that he missed her too. When Taehyung cut him off, he cut him off from his parents and siblings too. It makes sense, but it really did upset him for a while.

"He's in here." She said, gesturing to the door they were standing in front of. "I'm sorry we had to meet again..like this." She frowned as jeongukk shook his head.

"Don't be. I'm just happy that I can help." He smiled, as she gave him one in return.

He went in, the cold air from the inside of his hospital room immediately hitting him. The door closed behind him a little loud, causing him to wince in stupidity.

He saw Taehyung in his bed. He looked so pale and had a bandage wrapped around his head, little scratches around his face. He broke jeongukk heart all over again.

He began to stir, probably because of the loud noise
he made upon entering.

Jeongukk was a bit panicked at the fact that this was real. Tae actually wanted to see him, he got into an accident, and he was now waking up.

He decided that he should probably leave real quick and rethink his decisions, but a quiet voice had other plans.

"gukkie?" he said. Jeongukk breathed, turning around quickly.

gukkie? he still calls me that?

"guk I was so scared..they told me you wouldn't come." Tae said, and by now jeongukk noticed that he started to cry.

"Why wouldn't you come? I thought something happened to you." He sobbed, the boy finally able to move from his frozen position, worried that something wrong might happen if he continued to freak out like this.

"Hey-hey, it's okay." Jeongukk ran up to him, throwing his backpack on the floor.

He wiped his tears away, and Taehyung nuzzled his cheek into hand. It felt so weird to do that, but he pushed his thoughts aside because Taehyung wasn't in the right state of mind, and he needed him right now.

"can you please stay with me? I don't want to be alone again." He placed his hand over his with a little bit of struggle.

jeongukk nodded, and Taehyung smiled in response.

"okay gukkie, goodnight. I love you." He said, giving his hand a squeeze before letting go.

The raven haired boy sighed. It's something straight out of a movie, but he knew that it must be true considering the way he's acting. Maybe in the morning he'll remember, or after he's off all this medication and in a better state of mind. But right now, he must not remember their break up.

Jeongukk smiled weakly, "I love you too."
