The thirty first of August, Mika's birthday arrived and we were all very excited about it. It was the first birthday I was in since Leah was born in February and Lin was away for her birthday so the others had celebrated it before she left.
I had made sure to go out the previous day without them knowing to go to the shopping district to find a Dior necklace, something which I had heard Mika wanted but she said it was too expensive for her. They had all agreed on not buying each other anything for their birthdays and just going out to eat, but it was the first birthday I would be celebrating with them and wanted to give her something special, even if it was just a stupid detail.
As we had nothing to do that day, I knew Mika wouldn't wake up until at least eleven, so I woke up at about eight to prepare a few things in the living room. I had bought balloons with the number two to leave a twenty-two floating above the couch, but I hadn't realised the helium tank was in Jisung's room upstairs, so I couldn't inflate any of the balloons.
I then decided to get the cake that I had baked the previous night ready and set everything else, leaving the balloons for the last thing. Still, that only took me about an hour.
I couldn't hear a single sound coming from upstairs, so I was sure they were all still sleeping. I couldn't wait any longer, though, and decided to grab the spare set of keys we had and headed upstairs to quickly pick the tank up and getting back to work.
I had to be very careful to not make any noise, so I tiptoed my way inside the dorm and went straight to the room, the only light source coming from the screen of my phone.
The boys there were snoring very loudly, so I guessed I had succeeded and quickly picked up the helium tank before heading outside the room and going to the front door.
"Did you just break into our house to steal a helium tank?" I heard someone say.
I was so startled that I nearly dropped the helium tank, thankfully he was able to catch it before I dropped it.
I then flashed the light at his face to check who it was and saw that it was Jisung, so I relaxed. His morning voice was considerably deeper than his usual one, so I wasn't used to hearing him and therefore couldn't recognise him.
"I needed it to inflate Mika's balloons and didn't want to wake you all up, sorry," I whispered to not wake the rest up too. "Go back to sleep. She won't wake up in at least three hours."
"Let me help you," he said picking up the tank and heading to the door with me.
We both then went downstairs to my dorm and he left the tank on the floor by the couch before sitting down on it and yawning.
"Why did you wake up so early to prepare it?" he asked me and told me to sit down with him.
"I want to make sure everything is perfect. It's the first ResQ birthday we are all sharing," I explained.
His hair was all messy from his sleep and his face was puffy, which made him look adorable paired with how sleepy he was still.
Not able to stop myself, I ran my fingers through his hair to try to tidy it up a little, which made him smile.
"If you keep doing that I will fall asleep yet again," he told me and laid his head on my shoulder. "I'm tired."
"Then go back to sleep! I already told you!" I exclaimed.
"But I want to be with you!" he said cutely and poked my cheek. "God, I really am sleepy."
I then stood up and turned back to him, grabbing his arm to pull him up.
"Go to my room to sleep, then, if you don't want to go back upstairs," I told him. "No buts."
He then finally gave in and let me drag him to my room, where I told him to lay down on my bed, which had a small pillow and a stuffed animal on top of it as I liked to sleep hugging something. I don't think he realised that, as soon as he dropped onto my bed, he grabbed my stuffed animal and hugged it too, falling asleep almost instantly.
Quietly, I made my way back to the living room to start working again and picked up the helium tank to take it to the kitchen so the girls nor Jisung would wake up due to the noise.

At about a quarter to eleven, everyone had already gathered up in the living room and we all waited for Mika to finally wake up and go out of her room. In case that didn't happen before eleven, Leah had set up an alarm on her phone without her noticing so that she would wake up.
We had been wise to do that since we heard the alarm ringing and Mika exclaiming profanities, so we all quickly picked up the confetti I had prepared and waited for her to come out of the room.
"What the hell, girls?! Who was the idiot who-?"
"Happy birthday!" We all exclaimed at the same time and threw the confetti.
At first, she was very confused because she hadn't still fully woken up but she soon realised it was her birthday and smiled brightly.
"Thank you, guys!" she told us.
"By the way, that idiot was me," Leah told her. "Thank you."
