Naglalakad si Tin malapit sa baseball field nang biglang may humarang sa daan niya. She looked up only to see Andrei with a visible frown on his face.
“Why did you do that?”, bungad nito sa nagtitimping tono.
“Do what?”, kunot-noong tanong ni Tin.
“Magpanggap na magnanakaw? Really Tin? Paano kung inabutan ka ng mga yon?! You told me to stay out of trouble pero ikaw pala ‘tong gumagawa ng kalokohan?”
Kalokohan. Wow. Tin felt her eyes sting because of his words and the way he shouted at her. Kahit ang Tito George niya, ni minsan ay di siya sinigawan.
Tin closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
“Look, Andrei. Kung sa tingin mo, kalokohan ang tumulong---”
“At sinong tinutulungan mo? Ako? I don’t need your help.”, Drei said firmly.
Tin was lost for words. She understood why her mission was kept as a secret. Andrei does not even recognize that he needs help. Kailangan na niyang maging mas maingat sa pagbabantay dito ngayon. He should not have an idea that Tin’s rendering protection services for him.
She just walked past him when she caught sight of a baseball speeding towards their direction.
“Look out!!”, sigaw ng isa sa mga players para magbigay ng warning sa kanila na umiwas. Mabilis na kumilos si Tin at tinulak si Andrei.
Naramdaman niyang gumuhit ang sakit sa balikat niya dahil tumama ang bola doon. But Tin did her best to maintain the normal expression on her face.
“Tin! Are you hurt? I told you to stop helping me!”, Andrei exclaimed.
“Kapal mo! Sino nagsabing tinutulungan kita? Iniwasan ko yung bola, nabangga ka lang. Next time kasi wag kang pahara-hara.”, Tin retorted.
“Are you sure na di ka tinamaan? Because I’m sure I heard a sound.”, Andrei asked again, this time in a softer tone.
Tin simply rolled her eyes to hide the pain she’s feeling. Lumapit din sa kanila ang isa sa mga players.
“Guys, sorry, na-mali yung hit ko.”, hinging paumanhin nito.
“Uy ok lang. Yung bag ko lang naman yung tinamaan.”, Tin answered with a smile.
Tumango lang si Andrei.
“Sorry ulit.”, sabi nito sabay pulot ng bola at tumakbo pabalik sa field.
Pinagpag ni Tin ang likod niya at tumalikod na rin. Kailangan niyang lumayo muna kay Andrei. Sigurado naman siyang wala itong date ngayon dahil sakto lang ang oras nila para sa training. Malaking tulong kay Tin na nagsimula na rin ang basketball season.
“Tin wait--”
Nakadama si Tin ng kaba nang biglang hawakan ni Andrei ang kamay niya kaya agad niyang iwinaksi iyon.
“I’m sorry.”, Andrei said.
“I have to go.”, Tin replied and walked away as questions filled her mind.
What’s happening to her? She’s good at dodging, right? Where in the world did her reflex go?
Her first mission was proving to be a challenge for her. But she won't fail. She can't. Tin has sworn to her parents' grave that she will protect Andrei… whatever the cost.
