There was once a girl so filled with hate,
That without it, she scorned the world irate.

For he'd given her a softness,
A curse of sweetness in the sand,
Honeyed words and bitter thoughts,
Stole from right beneath her hand.

She told herself that she could hate him,
For she hated everything he'd done,
But then slowly, she became him,
Certain as the setting sun.
