"Oh my goodness, this is going to be so fun!" Felicity cried excitedly as I backed out my parking spot in the school parking lot. I smiled at her as she hastily messed with my radio.
"You know, this is my first formal." I told her, her eyebrows shot up in surprise. "But I'm excited to give it a shot."
"You're going to have a blast." She said, assuring me that I had the right choice to attend.
The remainder of our drive was full of terrible singing to random songs that were played on the radio. Felicity was so care-free and put you at ease in her presence. I never felt nervous or shy around her, I guess that's why I enjoyed spending my time with her.
It had been almost a week since the Piper incident and I tried my best to tactfully and kindly tell her that I wanted to have a little space. I told her that I wanted to try again, but she needed to give me time. It nearly brought both of us to tears, but I was honestly proud of myself for doing it. It was the only thing that would keep me preserved.
After about a ten minute drive, we pulled up to the mall. I hadn't been here since I was fifteen, so the entire idea felt weird. But Felicity was extra cheerful today and my mood couldn't help but be boosted by her joyful spirit. So I eagerly followed her into the large building, ready for an afternoon of being a teenager. What ever that meant.
Felicity eagerly pulled me in the direction of her favourite stores, passing familiar faces from our school along the way. As we arrived at Felicities first pre-determined destination, I took a brief moment to glance around the place.
There were racks and racks of dresses lining the walls, they seemed to have one in every shade and colour you could even imagine. Never in my life had I seen so many dresses in one place, but by the impatient look on Felicities face, I knew that it was time to dig into the task at hand.
After an hour of searching, trying on and returning to the rack, I still hadn't found 'the one'. Felicity had claimed to find the dress of her dreams. I had to admit, she looked stunning in her final choice. It was an absolutely beautiful blue satin dress, that was longer in the back than in the front. It's deep, but clean V neck line gave it a flare of style. The over ly simple look was elegant yet modern. I envied the way the dress looked on her beautiful figure.
"I think Mason may just faint when he sees how stunning you look." I giggled giving her a smile. Her cheeks flushed pink at the mention of Mason. "Speaking of Mason, have you guys hung out at all?" I questioned as we stood in the line up for her to pay for the dress before she changes her mind.
"Yeah, we've gone to the movies and out after his games and stuff." She shyly replied, which was completely unusual for the typically spunky Felicity.
"Oooh, Felicity has a boyfriend." I teased, she lightly elbowed my side with a nervous laugh.
"Not yet, but I'm hoping he asks soon." She admitted, gaining a bit of her usual confidence back in her voice.
Finally, we were able to reach the front of the line up so Felicity could pay for her dress. I was a little jealous of how almost everything that girl put on looked effortlessly beautiful on her. The colour of her red hair contrasted enough with the deep blue dress to make her green eyes pop. I knew that she was going to look beautiful for the formal.
After paying, I convinced Felicity to go to the Tim Hortons in the mall so I could actually have some fuel to continue shopping. She was hesitant because she claimed I was 'stalling', which quite possibly could have been true. But after bribing her with Tim Bits, she agreed happily.
After ordering a latte, muffin and six Tim Bits, we found a place to sit and rest a bit from all the rushing around the mall. As we took a seat, out of the corner of my eye, I saw two familiar figures sitting at a table just a few away from ours. It was Carmen and Brynn. Carmen caught my glance and gave my a huge smile, she said something to Brynn and the both came over to our table.
