Goodbye Long ago

Found myself awake at night,
Lying in bed to songs I listen,
To let the pain out I write,
Picking up the pieces broken.

The empty silence kills,
Whatever's left of the soul,
Where only longing fills,
That which is never whole.

Clock's ticking makes it worse,
And only ever more bitter,
As I sink in quiet remorse,
Each breath only be heavier.

Only staring at my fingers,
Once in between yours,
Now only memory lingers,
Of what was once ours.

Why my tears still bleed?
Why this much sorrow?
For something Past said,
That goodbye long ago.
