The bombing of Pearl Harbor was a failure. Here's why:
First off the Japanese attack on a Sunday morning. So nine out of ten crew members were on leave. And if the Japanese drawed the American ships out to see, we would have lost 38,000 men compared to 3,800. But that's still a lot of men.
Second, the Japanese got so carried away with bombing the battle ships that they did not once bombed the dry docks across from the ships. So in the amount of time it would take the Americans to repair the ships, it would to tow the ships to America to repair.
Thirdly, five miles away was every drop of fule for the ships were stored in the hill on ground level. So the the Japanese could've easily cripple the American Navy. But they didn't.
