I'll Try - bandi

Trigger warning: panic attacks

It's a little dark outside as the sun sets. The sky creates wondrous images of colors. Pink, orange, purple and clouds that are almost smoky looking. Buffy and Cyrus sit at a picnic table at the park. Although it's October, it feels like a summer night.

"So," Cyrus says, "you said you had to talk about something?" He asks. Buffy fidgets with her hair and tugging on her sleeves. 'Come on, Buffy! Tell him! He can't judge you!' She told herself. Buffy took a deep breath, feeling shaky all around. "I remember about two to three years ago, you called me. You asked to meet at the spoon, so of course I came. That's when you told me that you like Jonah. You were a boy, who liked another boy." She says, starting to tear up at the memory. Cyrus grabs Buffy's hand, "and you told me, 'you're no different'. It was honestly one of- no- the best thing I've ever heard anyone say to me. I never knew how badly I needed that." Cyrus says, feeling his throat close up a little.
Buffy wipes the tears stinging her eyes, trying not to make it too obvious. "Buffy?" Cyrus asks, "what's going on? You're... scaring me."
Buffy grips onto the hold of Cyrus' hand. "I'm scaring me too. I don't want to admit this. I can not admit this. I do not want to believe this- I just... no. No. No. No. No. No." Buffy puts her head down on the table, crying and breathing heavily. Cyrus moves to the side of the table that Buffy is sitting at and hugs her. He hugs her very tightly. Buffy manages to calm down. "I'm- I'm sorry. I would do anything to not admit this. I don't know how you did it." Buffy says. Cyrus looks into her eyes, "what do you mean?"
"I- I like Andi." The words finally came out.

Buffy liked Andi.

Buffy held onto Cyrus' hands, "how did you do this? Like someone who you knew couldn't like you back?" It was terrifying for Buffy to actually talk about this, it was the first time saying these words out loud. Cyrus shrugged his shoulders, "it was hard. It pained me to see Jonah and Andi together. But something I also loved to see was Jonah and Andi be happy with one another. No matter how jealous I felt, no matter how much I wanted Jonah to smile at me and hold my hand, I knew how happy he was with Andi. And how happy Andi was with Jonah. My feelings rather then disappeared after a few months. I liked a new boy. But with this boy, he liked me back." He said. Buffy smiled a little bit, "I'm really happy for you and TJ. I never would have expected it. But; what should I do with Andi? I bet if I told her how I felt, she'd never want to speak with me... ever."
"I say give it a shot. I know it's really scary to think about, but I'm encouraging you to at least try, okay?" Cyrus asks, holding onto his best friend. "Fine," Buffy says, "I'll try."

Buffy was settled in her room, feeling her heart race. "Mom," Buffy called out, "can I talk to you?" Buffy's mom walks in through the door. "What is it, sweetie? Everything okay?" Pat asks. Buffy explains everything to her mother and gets some advise on how to handle it all.

After talking with Cyrus and her mother last night, she felt ready. 'I'm going to tell Andi. If she doesn't return my feelings, then I'll just have to live with that.'
Buffy makes it to CeCe's house, which is where Andi told Buffy to meet her, and heads to Andi shack in the backyard.

Buffy opens the door of Andi shack and sees an adorable looking Andi making some type of craft. 'Gosh' Buffy thought, 'she is so cute.'

"Buffy!!"
"Yep, that's me. what are you working on?" Buffy asks, feeling her heart race. Andi picks up this rainbow colored shape. "What is it?" Buffy asks, not being able to figure it out. Andi changes the position of the object, "it's a butterfly! isn't it cute?!"
"you're cute." it took a second to realize what Buffy had said. Andi's face turned a light shade of pink. Buffy's face was red as a tomato. "I'm just... how about we ignore that?" Buffy says, attempting to fix the awkward situation. Andi nods.
