Luke's Pov

Silence.

Silence is all that there was as we drove to McDonald's.

It was seriously so awkward between the three of us. No one and I mean no one said anything, and the silence was slowly starting to annoy me.

We abruptly stopped, and I looked in front to see McDolanlds. I hurriedly got out of the car and opened up the back door for Emily.

She looked up at me with an amused expression before getting out of the car.

"Thanks," I heard her mutter before she strolled off and walked away with James.

I gritted my teeth as I saw them walking so close to each other. You could probably put a piece of paper between them, and I wouldn't dare to fall.

I ran inside and looked around until I saw them sitting NEXT to each other in a booth. My fists automatically clenched at my said as I walked up to the table.

I hear Emily let out a sigh of frustration as she looked at me, making my heart clench at that.

"What do you guys want? I'll go order it," James said as he looked between Emily and me.

"A regular cheeseburger and fries with a Coke, please," Emily said while starting to dig in her bag.

"What are you doing?" I asked, making her look up at me.

"I'm just searching for my wallet," she said and began to go through her bag again.

"Don't worry about it. I'll pay." James said. My teeth gritted as she looked up at him and smiled, giving him a soft thanks.

"And you?" He asked as he looked at me.

"The same," I said, trying to hide my anger towards him. He nodded his head and scooted out of the booth before walking up to the line.

It was silent as Emily and I sat there. I keep glancing up at her to see her glaring down at her hands that were resting on the tabletop.

"Why are you here?" She suddenly asked, breaking that awkward silence.

"I was hungry," I stated with a raised eyebrow.

"I get that, but why did you have to come here with James and me," she asked in an annoyed tone.

"Because I was craving some food, and since you and James were getting some, I thought that I could just tag along," I said.

"Great reason," she muttered sarcastically under her breath, causing a smirk to form on my face.

"So, are you and Jame dating?" I blurted out.

Emily looked a little shocked at my question, and vigorously shook her head. "Why does everyone think that? We're friends nothing more," she said with a straight face.

"Good," I mumbled, hoping she wouldn't hear it, but to my dismay, she did.

"What is that suppose to mean?" She asked with her eyebrows furrowed.

"Nothing," I mumbled, hoping she would leave it at that.

"No, tell me," she said sternly while placing her elbows on the table and resting her chin on her intertwined fingers.

"Well, uhm......I.....uh," I stammered, not wanting to tell her that I think they would be incredibly wrong for each other and that I desperately want her to date me instead of that prick.

"Whatever," she muttered as James came back with all our food on a tray and handing it out to us.

********

I harshly knocked on the door, waiting impatiently while doing so.

This whole night has ticked me off. When James came back with our food, he and Emily started talking as if I wasn't there.

Every time he would lean closer to her and whisper something in her ear, I just wanted to reach over the table and punch that guy's face in.

When they kept ignoring me, I finally had enough and stormed out of McDonalds receiving some strange looks from a few people.

So now I'm here. Outside Madison's room, desperately wanting to talk to someone.

The door opened, and she just stood there in her half-covered pajamas, smirking up at me.

She moved out of the way, and I casually walked in, making myself comfortable on her bed.

She walked up to the bed and took a seat next to me. "Penny for your thoughts," she said with a smile on her face.

"Its nothing," I mumbled, looking up at the ceiling.

"Come on, Luke. You can't expect me to believe its nothing," she said.

"Okay, but don't get mad," I said, and she nodded her head with a small frown on her face.

"Well, it about a girl," I said, and she quickly grinned at me and motioned with her hand for me to continue.

"You see, I've liked her since the first day she talked to me. She has been through so much, she even got into a car accident and was in a coma for a few months, and the worst part is I haven't visited her once. Not even one single time, and now she's here, and all the feeling I had for her keep rushing back."

"I've been trying so hard to forget her, but when I saw her for the first time on the first day of school, I somehow felt so happy. Her mom told me that the doctors said there is a 1 out of 100 chance of her waking up again and when I saw her........... I fell in love all over again," I said with a smile on my face.

My eyes widened when I just remembered who I was talking to. I looked at Madison a little scared that she was going to yell, throw a fit, or even slap me, but to my surprise, she was actually...smiling?

"I remembered what it felt like to be in love. My life was so much less complicated when I was still with James. He was the nicest, sweetest guy there. He always treated me like a princess, and I honestly felt like one around him. I wasn't always this... Uhm, slut? I was what you would call sweet, but that changed when he went to visit his friends," she said, her eyes showing sadness as she stared down at the bedsheets.

"What happened?" I asked as curiosity took over.

"A few days after James had left, I called him to ask when he was coming back. That whole day I would call, but he would never answer. I was somehow convinced that James was cheating on me. I mean a guy as sweet, caring, and sexy as James could get any girl he wanted."

"I've been a wreck when I thought about all those things. I've started wearing clothes that barely fit me, and I've been sleeping around with guys to try and forget the fact that James was probably doing the same."

"One day I was lying next to some guy I met at a party when James returned and me being me I didn't even lock the door, so he just came inside. James' face was full of anger when he saw the guy and me, and he broke up with me at the spot. Ever since we had broken up, I have become worse with the whole sleeping with guys stuff. I just wanted to forget about him somehow, but that never worked"

"Instead, I kept remembering all the things we've done and been through. All the hugs, the kisses, the I love yous. It was all too much, and I was on the verge of breaking down, but then you came, and somehow, we got trapped in this relationship. Don't get me wrong, Luke, you're a great guy, but I'm still in love with James," Madison said as a stray tear fell from her eye.

"What are we going to do?" I asked as I hid my face in my hands, trying to think.

And that's when an idea popped into my head....
