A Different Way (Nate x Reader)

(okay! so there's a time skip of 5 months here! i know that this is a big one but it's purposeful I promise)

Nate's p.o.v

Noah was sleeping really good recently. He sleeps 3-4 hours at a time now! We were already at the rink when Phil walks in with a fairly tall kid. He was around 5'9 I would guess, he had blonde hair that was dyed crazy colors in the front, he was a new blood. I groan inwardly as I lace up my skates. Y/n was at the rink today but she was editing some videos while Noah was sleeping. I walk out to the rink, catching the new bloods eye. I preform for small shows now, its kinda fun. Oakley glares at the new guy and walks to the wall of the rink. She slipped off her skate gaurds and set them on the bench Dan was sitting on. Y/n was in the nursery so she'd send him a text if the triplets needed him. "Practicing for the season, Oak?" She nods, getting out onto the ice. "Gotta be ready for internationals, they come up quickly." She says, working on her step sequence. "You're ready to see your friend from Brighton, hmm?" She chuckles and nods with a smile. "You betcha, Steve and I haven't seen each other skate in forever." I chuckle. "Well, I'm apart of the pre-competition show." Oakley nods. "Good." I take notice of her glare that followed the new blood around the rink and into the locker room. She eventually began to practice more, leaving me to wander back to the locker room. Phil smiles. "Hey Nate! You're just in time. This is Julian, he's from North Dakota and is learning with us!" I smile, though it was fake. This new blood looked me up and down with a lustful expression. "Hi, Julian. I'm Nate and- ah! There's my lovely Fiancé and son!" The new blood smiles, fakely. Y/n and I weren't engaged yet but I have plans. Noah smiles, reaching out to me. "Hi daddy!" Y/n voices for him. I smile, for real this time, taking him from her. "Hi buddy!" Phil smiles and leads Julian around some more. Dan was unhappy with the new bloods presence as well, but that's Dan for you. 

Lilac and Oakley weren't very talkative lately. Oakley was always biting her lips and pulling at her clothing. Dan had pulled away to the training room. I could only hear bits and pieces. "Hey, Oak, I know you haven't been eating. Tell me what's wrong." Dan started. Noah distracted me for a bit until I heard "I can't stop, Dan. I need help, I'm off all my medications. And since Lilac had that miscarriage.. I can't help but take the weight from her crown onto my own.." I frown, getting up and take Noah to the locker room. Julian was setting up his new locker as I took my son to the nursery. Y/n was already back there, playing with the triplets. One of my songs was playing in the background.  I hum a little and walk back to stretch my leg, I hate how tight my muscles are after it healing.
