Claws were raking against her back. The sharp tips ripping her exposed flesh to shreds. She called out in pain, she reached her hand out for someone, anyone but she saw nothing among the flames. The fire raged on around her. She managed to pull herself slowly across the dirty floor for a few feet. She could feel the blood running down her body in waves. She was losing her strength, her life literally pouring out her back.

She looked up to the sky. Stars brightly shining from above, calling her home. She could feel a small smile forming on her lips, she knew she could let go, the stars would embrace her. She lifted herself toward them as much as she could, waiting for the sky to take her. The world faded to black.

She bolted up in bed. Sweat clinging to her skin like an extra layer of flesh. Hand to her chest, she was panting, trying to regain her breath. It was the early hours of the morning, she could see the outline of the sun peaking out over the top of the mountains. She ran a hand through her damp hair. That was the third time this month she had that dream. Each time she got a few more of the details, another piece to the puzzle, one she didn’t want to finish because it scared her.

She had to remind herself where she was, who she was. She was Kim YongSun, also known as princess Solar to the kingdom. She was in her bedroom. Circular in shape, blue-grey stone walls. She was sitting in her pink coloured bed that could fit three people. She could see her vanity across from her bed, frightened expression reflected back at her. Her long brown hair was falling over her shoulder in waves, white lace nightdress was damp with her sweat.

Her bedroom door opened abruptly on her left. She jumped from her bed, arms raised in defence. A cute girl with light brown hair tied up in a bun looked over at her shocked. “Princess?” She asked sounding unsure. “Are you okay?”

YongSun’s racing heart calmed a bit when she realized who it was. “HyeSoo,” She breathed out the breath she was holding. Her handmaiden still looked concerned as she entered the room. “Yeah, everything is fine. You just scared me is all.” She forced a smile.

HyeSoo nodded. “You’re mother sent me to get you ready for breakfast.”

YongSun almost rolled her eyes. With the dream looming over her head she forgot about the very important breakfast she was meant to be attending that morning with her family. They were meeting the Nam family, their kingdom just over the mountains. More importantly she was to meet their son Eric, the man who she was now betrothed to. YongSun nodded at her handmaiden. “Shall we begin?” HyeSoo motioned for her to sit at her vanity. YongSun sat gracefully on the chair, mind still trying to chase the dream away.

Fast feet pounded on the ground. She had to hurry. Heart beating like a drum in her ears. There wasn’t much time, she must not get caught. She saw the training ground in front of her, silhouettes of the men already suiting up for the day. She dodge their line of view. She raced for the grey bricked building to her right, the storage shed.

She quickly managed to get the door open and tried her hardest not to slam it shut behind her. She threw her sack on the dirty and hay covered floor and rushed around to get ready. Long blonde hair tied into a tight bun, short fake hair she had made was slipped over the top. Next she pulled out a long tan fabric and began winding it over her chest, making it as flat as she possibly could, not that she had a large chest to begin with, but it was noticeable. Next she slipped on her uniform. Black leather that was so snug to her body that it made it hard to breath at times with her chest bound. It only covered her shoulders, leaving her muscular arms bare, she slipped her fingerless gloves on and started shimmying into her tight pants. She secretly cursed the royal family for thinking this was a practical outfit for a warrior to wear, for a knight to wear, and it may have been, if she were a male.
