Even though Wei Wuxian isn’t blood-related to them, he still can’t marry Jiang Cheng. They grew up together as siblings, and Yu Ziyuan wouldn’t allow it even if they’d fell in love with each other.

“Even though Jin Zixuan is a soldier, but his family were all businessmen.” Yu Ziyuan said, referring to the person Jiang Yanli married to. Today she isn’t around since she finished her visitation to her family. Jiang Cheng cannot possibly accompany them since this is a matchmaking. And so Jiang Cheng and Jiang Fengmian were left in the residence. “You should do your best so that the matchmaker should be impressed!” Yu Ziyuan who is accompanying him today told him. “Go.” She told him.

“Yes, auntie!” Wei Wuxian said and ran after the women who were going to matchmaking, too.

Yu Ziyuan’s eyes widened and she froze where she stood. Her eyes became wet and she lowered her head. I wish you could marry into a good family. So that if you were found out – she looked at the direction where Wei Wuxian left. – they would forgive you and be lenient to you. She actually had noticed it long time ago. She clearly saw Cangse Sanren’s letters to Jiang Fengmian telling him about her and Wei Changze’s son. And so she knew Wei Wuxian. As Wei Wuxian grew up in their family, she already noticed the boy’s purity. And so, she’s acting cold outside but felt warm inside.

I hope... you will find a good partner to marry. She thought as she walked towards the venue of the matchmaking.

1 hour later.

A vein popped in her forehead as she listened to the haggard matchmaker yelling to Wei Wuxian who has his head down, feeling wronged. I knew this’ll happen! She thought. But fortunately, he wasn’t found out!

“There’s really a bug on the tea...” Wei Wuxian pouted.

The matchmaker’s eyes went wide. “How dare you talk back, you uneducated child!” she shrieked. “Your pretty face is wasted for a stupid like you! You’ll never bring honor to your family!” she shouted.

Yu Ziyuan took a deep breath and pulled Wei Wuxian behind her. “So what if he can’t?!” she asked, then glared at the matchmaker. “What honor he brings, whatever he brings to us, we decide about that!” she snapped. “Also, this child – “ she pointed Wei Wuxian whose face is dumbstruck. “ – may know more than what you do!” she said and humphed. She pulled Wei Wuxian away and then they left, the onlookers are gaping at them.

“Auntie...” Wei Wuxian called after they left. “Sorry.” He said.

“Humph! At least you know you are sorry!” she told him and entered the house.

Wei Wuxian hung his head. “I can’t bring honor to the family now...” he said. “I can’t marry...”

Yu Ziyuan paused. “I already said. Whether you can marry or not, we decide that.” She said. “It’s useless to talk about what’s been done.” She told him, then left him standing in the entrance.

Wei Wuxian watched her left. "Auntie..." he muttered, then lowered his head as he aimlessly walked around.

“Look at me, I will never pass for a perfect bride, or a perfect daughter.” He said. “Can it be I'm not meant to play this part...” he walked to the bridge. “Now I see, that if I were truly to be myself, I would break my family's heart...” he sniffed as he looked back at the Jiang residence. “Who is that girl I see? Staring straight back at me.” He said as he looked at the pond beneath the bridge. “Why is my reflection someone I don't know?” he asker, confused, as he stared at his face with makeup reflected on the water. “Somehow I cannot hide... who I am, though I've tried.” He said as he splashed the water, erasing his face reflected. “When will my reflection show, who I am, inside?” he asked as he stared at the water that became calm. He looked at his face reflected, then wiped the makeup on his face with his sleeve. “When will my reflection show... who I am inside?” he asked as he stared at the face that’s clean and bright on the water.
