"Ugh Alby...? Is someone in there?"

I heard a rattle as someone jumped down into the cage-box-thing with me,

I was crouched in the corner, the blinding light coming from above was interrupted by a figure of a boy, with broad shoulders and big hair.

I couldnt see any of his features due to the light but then someone walked closer to me,

"Hey- hey yeah there's someone in here!"

The person closest to me said, it was a boy,

My eyes finally adjusted to the light,

There was more then one person above me,

The boy who was in the box stepped into the light, He was a boy with a shaved head and dark skin,

His brown eyes looked me up and down

"Shuck, looks like a girl!"

There was some whispering among the few people above me.

I glared at the boy infront of me,

"Wow what an astute observation! Look Einstein, what the hell is happening and who the heck are you!?"

You can blame me all you want for being hot headed in this situation but I didn't think crying would help my case if these people were gonna harm me I had to show them that I was tough.

A few people above me chuckled,

The boy in front of me shook his head,

"Look I'm Alby, and this place... Well we're not sure exactly where we are or what's going on, but it's ok."

I stood up by myself and the boys made some space as Alby helped me out the box,

There were only about four or five boys.

All boys.

"Am I the only girl?"

Alby nodded,

"So far yeah, but don't worry, none of us are that interested in making girlfriends or making out in the corner. We need to find a way out of here."

That's when I noticed the giant doors around the field, the giant doors that were open in the giant walls.

"What- what's out there?"

All the boys looked uncomfortably at each other before a boy with dark black hair perfectly brushed over stepped forward,

"That's the maze."

Its been a few weeks since I came up in the box, everyone's pretty nice and we're all helping one another set up smaller houses around the homestead ,which was a building in the corner of the glade that was here when Alby arrived apparently, and round up the animals.

I learnt that the boys found out about the maze when Minho and another boy who's no longer with us, went beyond the walls,

Thankfully Minho made it out but the other boy,

The only thing they found of him was his torn and bloodied jacket.

But today is the day when the boys finally stop calling me greenie,

Today, according to the boys, is the day when a new person comes in,

One every month.

The siren for the box rang through out the glade.
