THE FOUR MISERABLE ORPHANS WERE BEING DRAGGED BY COUNT OLAF AND ESME THROUGH THEIR SUBMARINE. The sugar bowl was the one thing Esmé wanted and Count Olaf was determined to get it for her. Once he discovered that they had returned without the sugar bowl, he and Esmé were livid. They decided to punish them by throwing them into the brig.

"You orphans are as useless at sea as you are on land," Count Olaf shouted as he stomped through the submarine. "I order you to bring my girlfriend a sugar bowl, and instead, all you bring is a coughing baby!"

Count Olaf continued to get lost on his own submarine while Sunny continued to cough. The toddler was currently infected with the Medusoid Mycelium, a deadly, poisonous fungus that waxes and wanes. The Medusoid Mycelium grows best in small, dark places such as a grotto or someone's throat. The mushroom has such grim power that you may die within the hour, meaning that Sunny Baudelaire's time was running out very quickly.

Count Olaf and Esmé came to a stop as they tried to figure out where the brig was. Violet spoke to Klaus and Natalia in fear, "Sunny has less than an hour. We have to find an antidote!"

"Fiona will know what to do," Klaus said. "She has books on fungi in her library."

"Then we have to get back to the Queequeg," Natalia declared, putting aside her dislike for Fiona. Even though she didn't trust or enjoy the young captain, Natalia knew that Fiona was probably the only one who could save Sunny.

"We have to go back!" Klaus told the villains.

"Don't be ridiculous!" Esmé rolled her eyes. "We just came from there."

"Sunny's been poisoned," Violet informed. "If we don't go back, she'll die!"

"Fine with me. I only need one of you alive to get your fortune," Count Olaf shrugged in an unconcerned tone.

"Serves her right for coming back without the sugar bowl," Esmé snarled.

Natalia looked at the couple in disgust and questioned, "How could you say that? A toddler is dying and all you care about is a stupid sugar bowl and a fortune."

Esmé gripped Natalia's wrist harder and narrowed her eyes at the ginger. Natalia looked at the woman in fear as she spat, "The sugar bowl is not stupid, you spoiled little brat!"

Count Olaf began to walk down another corridor, "It's this way!"

"We have to find an antidote!" Violet screamed at the villains, but they couldn't care less.

"Yes, well, I anti-don't care," Count Olaf joked. "Tee-hee, ticklish!"

"Tort-tort, turmeric!" Esmé laughed.

The children broke free of their grips and started to run off. They needed to find their way out and get back to the Queequeg before it was too late. Unfortunately, they didn't make it far before Count Olaf caught them and dragged them back to where they were, "Hey, hey hey! Not so fast!"
