Chapter 8: Deal

Audrey was easy to find at lunch.

"Holy sh!t!" she yelped when I tapped her on the shoulder behind her. She stared at me in disbelief, "How the hell did you find me?"

She was seated at a bench behind the school with her lunch bag. The same bench that I measured twenty hands long yesterday.

I smiled and walked around as she glared at me. When I sat down, she moved farther down and gave me a skeptical look.

"You told me," I said. She tossed me a confused expression as I took a bite out of my sandwich that I brought for lunch today.

"What? Since when? I bet you followed me here, huh? I knew you were a stalker!" She pointed at me accusingly.

"No, I didn't stalk you. How could I stalk someone who lives with me? Besides, you told me you eat outside last night, remember?"

Her eyes narrowed at me and then shifted her eyes towards the right, thinking. Her eyes snapped right back to me and furrowed her brows. "What the hell? Just because I told you I preferred to eat outside back then doesn't mean I always do."

"And yet here you are," I pointed out.

She frowned, "Goddammit."

I looked forward, staring at the thick woods, recalling our little escape from the boys. "So...had any problems with Ken doll and his boy band today? You know? The blondie who looks like he's constipated when he's mad. You beat him up in the cafeteria weeks ago and he got butt hurt over it and thought that it'd justify his bad boy reputation if he brought a couple more guys over to beat you which actually didn't do him any justice. The fact that he even had to bring some guys to beat you made him look even more pathetic, to be honest. Not to mention behind a school building where no one can see their pathetic attempt to-"

"Shouldn't you be with your friends?" Audrey cut in, deflecting my question right into the sky.

"They have other friends they can sit next to," I replied. June and Alleny do have other friends, which I don't remember the names of, and I sat with them at one point. They were pretty interesting with all their little salads, beauty trends, and gossips about guys. They were fun to mess around with. Absolute fun.

The last time my friends left me alone with them, I managed to convince them that someone said 'this' and 'that' about them in my Freshman Year. The cat fight was entertaining until I got bored and continued on with my business. Since then, June and Alleny has been hogging me up all to themselves at lunch. Three years in a row now. I never thought of them as possessive, but I didn't mind.

"Well, why don't you go sit next to them? Why the hell are you here anyways?" she demanded. "Why won't you leave me alone?"

"Do you want me to?" I tilted my head curiously. I could see her skin start to redden in fury.

Her nose wrinkled and she waved her hand around in fustration, "Are you serious?! Yes! I want you to leave me alone! Why the hell do you think I didn't want you to find me at lunch?! I already have to deal with you at your house!"

It's not like I did much. All I did was look at her a couple of times and went off to do my own business. I'm the one who has to deal with her, not her dealing with me. I even set up her bed everyday. "I'm not that bad. I don't even bother you most of the time."

"You mean staring at me most of the time? Because that's what you've been doing since I've came here and it definetly bothers me."

Fine, I admit. I actually would watch her 24/7 at home and at any chance I can get at school, espically during 5th period. Can you blame me? It still feels strange seeing her live with us and when I see her, I get drawn in by her. I don't think she knows that I kept the picture I took of her when we first met a month ago. I look at it sometimes. It's not weird, is it? It's just a picture to remember by on our first meeting together.
