Chapter 20

Jasmine's POV

I open my eyes slowly and stretch out my arms to find the other side of the makeshift camping bed is empty. I sit up and crack my back.
'Where are you?' I ask Emily in our link.
'I went to school, I thought I'd let you have the day of since you barely slept from Lola's emotions. Did you even tell her it doesn't go away?'
'No, I thought it would make her feel better. Oh, before I forget you have to bring her over after school, I can meet you there if you want.'
'I've got to concentrate now, you don't have to come. I'll see you after then.' She says before she blocks me out.
"Great." I say out loud, I climb out of the bed and grab a pair of black jeans and a grey jumper. I walk out of the tent to find a half out fire and about twenty nine other people, including Michael and Old Man Ass Face or Omaf for short.
'What should we do today?' I ask Lupus,
'We could check out the new building.'
'That's top secret.'
'Your point is what exactly?'
'Yes, my best friend is back. Let's go secret agent style.' I slowly walk around the back of the tent and run towards the construction site and start climbing the three meter high fence, I get about a meter up and someone clears their throat, I drop and turn around to find a little girl maybe eight years old,
"Hey there, Kid. What's up?" I say, she raises her eyebrow at me,
"You're not meant to be here."
"Oh, okay. Well I'll leave and you can't tell anyone I was here, okay?"
"I'm not stupid, what do I get out of this?" She asks crossing her arms over her chest and narrowing her eyes at me.
"What do you want?"
"One hundred dollars."
"Ten."
"Seventy"
"Fifty."
"Deal."
"What's your name?" I ask,
"Isabelle." She says,
"Have you got a last name?"
"Nope." I keep a stern eye on her as I approach her.
"Come with me small child." I hold out my hand for her,
"Don't be a creep, Luna." She says as she grabs it. I walk her to my tent and start rummaging through my old backpack,
"I only have a twenty right now, we're from the same pack, I'll pay you the thirty tomorrow."
"No."
"What do you mean 'no'?"
"I mean no."
"Ugh, why?"
"Fine, bring the whole fifty to the camp fire tomorrow morning at eleven. If there's no money, you'll be in deep trouble." She says, she turns around and walks out of the tent.
'You're an idiot. You're just got tricked into paying a kid fifty dollars for nothing.' Lupus says,
'Shit.' I walk out of the tent and look around, I decide to go to the library.
"Grant!" I yell,
"Down here!" He says, I look over a pile of books to find him down a trap door in a basement type thing full of books,
"Hey, I just got tricked out of fifty bucks by a little kid." He smiles at me,
"Let me guess, her name was Isabelle."
"Yeah, how'd you know?"
"It's not the first time and it definitely won't be the last. She's different, really smart." He says,
"Like me different?" I ask,
"Maybe, who knows?"
"You still looking for something to do with Em and I?"
"Yeah, most off these books are so old that there written in The Old."
"The Old?"
"Yeah, it's a language that were creatures used back in the beginning. No one from this age can decipher it."
"It doesn't look that hard." I say looking at the book on top of the pile I was leaning on, "The two she wolves."
"How did you do that? That's the exact book I was looking for." Grant says as he climbs up the ladder to the surface, his blue hair covered in cob webs.
"It's easy to read."
"What does it say? Read it to me."
"I fucking hate story time."
"Please, this is a major breakthrough."
"Fine, you sound like such a nerd."

Emily's POV

"I'll see you guys later, I have to wait for Lola."
"Really?" Riley asks annoyed,
"Fine then, if you don't won't her to see her mate, you can't see yours either. Are you okay with that?"
"You can't do that?"
"Actually, I can."
"Fine, she can come." She says,
"Good, 'cause it wasn't your decision anyways." She rolls her eyes and storms off in the direction of Ben's new car.
"Do you have to do that?" Ben asks,
"Yes, actually, I do." He smiles at me and follows her to his car.
"Emily, are you ready?" Lola asks from behind me,
"You're actually on time to day."
"Yeah, just hurry up and let's go." I unlock my car and we both get in after a silent ten minute drive we finally arrive at our pack house. We climb out and walk up to Michael's tent and yell inside.
"Oi, Lola's here." He quickly opens the zip and steps out,
"Hey." He says awkwardly,
'Put some pants on, that might be a start, you can leave your shirt of though.' He looks down and nods at himself.
"I shall be back with some pants." He says and he climbs back in side.
"Have fun, I'm going to find Jas." I tell Lola, she nods and I walk away following her scent to the library.
"Hey babe." I say,
"Hey." She says as she walks around the corner with none other than Isabelle following behind her,
"What you doin'?" I ask,
"We're reading, also this is Isabelle, you owe her fifty dollars." Jas says,
"I know her." The little girl smirks at me.
"Hi Alpha, long time, no see. I do believe you owe me one hundred dollars, you've avoided me for two years, and now I want my money." Isabelle says,
"Fucking hell. How did you know that would happen?"
"I can read." She says,
"Yes, she can. She's helping me translate our legend. She's fucking awesome, also watch your language."
"That's how you knew."
"Surprise." She smirks at me.
"Fine. Here." I say and count some money from my pocket, "One hundred and fifty dollars, it's all yours." She smiles pleased with herself.
"Why do you owe her money?" Jas asks,
"This wasn't the first time she made bets on my life, but this time she bet that I'll have a girl for a mate, just like she bet I would shift when I was twelve and that I would become Alpha when my dad died." Jas puts down Isabelle and the girl runs off out the library.
