Kenzie's POV

"I'm telling you, Derek. He's my mate." I whisper yell, running my hands through my hair. "Dude..." Derek says looking stunned.

"This is good, right. It's a good thing." He asks looking clueless. "Well it's not a bad thing but how am I his mate bro. He is the fucking future alpha king and if you haven't fucking noticed, I don't fucking like rules." I yell and he stands up putting his hands on my shoulders.

"Okay. Just calm down. We can figure this out." He says and pulls me into a hug. "How." I whisper into his neck.

"I don't know yet." He says and I laugh. "Fucking dumbass." I say and he chuckles as well.

"You just gotta go down there, make small talk and get it over with." Derek tells me and I sigh.

"What if he doesn't want me?" I asks him wringing my fingers. "What are you even talking about. Of course he'll want you. You're beautiful, funny, a good person. Even if you do prank old dudes like Deeds, you're still a good person. You're hella smart when you want to be which isn't most of the time, but it's fine 'cause he'll like you no matter what." He says and I punch him on the arm over the comment he made.

"Thanks, noob." I say tugging his hair. "Just go and get dressed." He says and I get some clothes, going into the bathroom.

I tug the ripped jeans up my legs and the black oversized 'Thrashers' shirt over my head. I drag a comb through my hair and ruff it up a little before grabbing my mascara.

"No. You never use make-up. You're not starting now." I whisper to myself and then a knock sound on the door.

"You done?" Derek asks and I pull the door open. I nod and grab my Chapstick and phone. I put some black socks on and we walk out of my room.

We walk down the stairs and into the dining room that we only use on Sundays. We look for seats but there are no open seat next to each other. One next to Aiden, of course, and the other is next to Eva, one of the pack members. Beautiful girl.

Derek immediately goes for the one next to her and I glare at him only to have him smile at me.

So much for figuring out together.

I slowly walk to the only vacant seat and slowly sit down. We're waiting for pizza to be delivered because nobody was going to start cooking now.

"You're my mate." I hear him speak and I jump slightly. I don't look at him. "Why did you bow?" He asks and I shrug. "You're the Alpha." I tell him and he scoffs

"And you are going to be my Luna. My equal. Look at me." He demands but I keep my eyes on my hands.

"No." I says and he growls lowly, only for me to hear. "I said look at me." He says, using is Alpha voice. It as little effect on me but I do what he says anyway.

My eyes connect with his deep brown ones and I'm lost in them. I move down his face to his nose and his pink lips. The light stubble on his jaw.

The tattoos that cover his neck-- TATTOOS!?

When the fuck did he get tattoos?

"When did you get tattoos." I ask trying to seem bored by it all. "When I turned eighteen. You like them?" He asks, his eyes looking desperate to know but he gives nothing away on his face.

"They're okay." I say and his faces falls a little. "You don't like them." He states and I look at him.

Agh, now I feel bad.

"I do like them." I say softly before peeking up at him. He has a small boyish smile on his face which causes me to smile.

I look up around the table to see Luna Alex staring at me with a smile. "Kenzie, can you help me in the kitchen real quick?" She asks and I nod, standing up.
