I focus on keeping my breath steady. My legs are burning and my face is practically steaming from my efforts. If it weren't for the unusually chilly air, I'd have stopped two miles ago. Though if I did, I'd face the monsters wrath and that's something I'm not quite ready for.

"Come on you pudgy bitches! Let's go! Push!" I roll my eyes when I hear Bethanys annoying voice yelling over the cliche music she hooked up to the overhead speakers.

Currently I am running beside Taia as our cheer captain shouts orders at us to go faster because we don't want to look "like fat losers" at the game on Friday. Considering her name is Bethany I'm not surprised she's such a bitch. Today Bethany stands in the middle of the football field whilst checking her reflection with her phone and occasionally throwing motivational insults at us. Coach has been gone for a few days which is suspicious to say the least but I ignore my paranoia.

"She calls us fat cows while we run but there she is. Just staring at herself like a bitch." Taia grunts our and I nod with a small laugh.

Shaking my head I decide it's better to distract myself with conversation. "I still don't understand why you and I can't run at full speed."

"Because it could blow our cover."

"How?" I look at her but she just keeps her gaze on the track ahead.

"We're supposed to keep a low profile on this team. If we suddenly start being better than everyone else at everything." she rolls her eyes as if I'm asking stupid questions. She really is just like me but for some reason it makes me want to go against her.

"What's wrong with being better than everyone else?" There's no better feeling.

"Jesus Christ you sound like me when I was your age."

"You know you aren't that much older than me." I look at her again.

"Don't look now but your suitors are headed this way." I look up and sure enough, Derek, River, Emery, and Jason are approaching the field in their workout clothes a football being tossed around as they walk.

Taia and I make eye contact and I smirk. She seems to realize my thoughts and her eyes grow wide. "Issa don't." I laugh. "Issa no-" but I'm already taking off.

I swerve around the girls infront of me with ease as I make my way to the front of the line. I need to impress Jason in a different way than other girls, so that's exactly what I'm gonna do. The boys take notice to me catching up to the front of the group of panting cheerleaders.
