Downward slope

You poisoned my mind
Talking about "love" and "hope"
Making me believe in your lies
As I continued down the slope

This slope had no ending
Nor did it have a beginning
I just happen to stumble upon it
When my mind was spinning

I met you on this slope
Noticing you have been here for a while
By looking at your worn out shoes
And your tired profile

I listened to your stories
Some true, some obviously false
But how could I know?
Since you never told me your faults
You acted as if you were perfect
However I saw the real you
When one day you promised me everything
As I gave you my love too

My heart was resting
Solely on your palms
But something didn't feel right
So I asked "what's wrong?"

You said "your heart is too heavy
It's weighing me down
I cannot handle this love"
You then gave me a frown

My heart still rested
In your slowly releasing palm
Anger rose in you
I wished you stayed calm
"I wish you were patient" I had cried
"Such weight shall not stay heavy
Over time you'll grow stronger
Please hold on to my love
Just a little longer,
We don't have to continue
Down this slope
All you ever needed
Was to learn how to cope"

But you shook your head no
"You are just too much for me now"
Releasing my heart into the endless slope
leaving me behind wondering "how?"
