Description: Malakai Taylor, a struggling photographer, had a rough life growing up. Losing both of his parents before the age of eighteen, he had a hard time trusting and opening up to people. Kai decides to up and move to California, not knowing his childhood best friends girlfriend lives in the same building he moved into.
After finally getting settled in his new apartment, he runs into Elyse but doesn't know who she is. He's immediately attracted to her, but quickly loses interest when Jason introduces her as his girlfriend.
Elyse Acklin met her boyfriend in med school and planned on using her degree in the medical field along with Jason. Shortly after she graduated, she decided to follow her dream of becoming a fashion designer.
With this causing a major rift between Elyse and Jason, he starts working extra shifts and long hours at the hospital, resulting in cancelled dates and broken promises.
