A New Home

Winter woke up in the backseat of a car, it was maybe 5 pm and nearly dusk now. Looking from side to side she could see the leather seating, floor board, and roof of the car. She deducted the similarities to a monte carlo. She sat slowly up a groaned to herself a resorted to laying back down. “I recommend staying down Winter you and your fox used alot of energy” came the husky voice of her newfound mate in the driver's seat. Grumbling under her breath she forced herself up and forward propping herself up some to where she was half in the backseat and half in the front seat. “You can’t tell me what to do'' she said with a cheeky smirk which made John chuckle with amusement “well as long as you don’t over do yourself the I suppose you can sit up” winter huffed out and icy breath as she proceeded to crawl to the front passenger seat and buckle herself in. “How long have we been on the road” winter inquired as she looked out the window as a tree went by not a single bit of snow in sight. “4 days about to be 5, oh and before you ask  have been resting behind us in the blue old fashioned ford is the rest of the ones that had come with me to your pack grounds they have been taking turns driving while I rested”  winter merely nodded while looking in the rear view mirror to see the truck that John had described. She sighed softly she couldn’t help but feel uneasy even though she had agreed to leave her pack to go with her mate she would miss them greatly. Shaking her head she called Snowflake who slowly stirred in her mind and purred a bit at feeling her mate nearby. ‘Hey sleepyhead we’ve been asleep for 4 days’ winter told her which instantly made Snowflake jump awake in her mind and gave winter a migraine at the sudden adrenaline that rushed through her veins ‘Four days!!?’ Snowflake shouted in her mind causing winter to rub her temple. “You ok Winter?” Snowflake hearing John almost instantly relaxed ‘did you forget with us being so close and him being an alpha he can sense our emotional state?’ winter said to Snowflake before turning her head to John “Yeah Snowflake, my fox, is awake and I told her how long we were asleep for and she freaked out” John hearing this chuckled and glanced at her from the corner of his eye “just checking “ winter’s heart seemed to melt more for John at his concern and kindness toward her, but also felt that it was because she was an arctic fox shifter but she was unsure. She then proceeded to look out the window at the trees passing by and sighs softly but her phone then binged saying she got a text message. She found it in the jacket pocket she was wearing and opened her phone

Lucy: Hey guuurl! Did you know the alpha of my pack actually hasn’t been home for 12 days 13 by the end of this day??

Winter: woah really??

Luck: yeah! Apparently 4 days ago news saying that he was coming home got around the pack which lead to everyone asking why the alpha wasn’t home and for how long! He was gone for 7 days before his pack found out he was coming home! Which means he must have been gone for at least a week now!

Winter: and you tell me this now?

Lucy: well 4 days ago you had some pack matters going on btw how’d that go for ya?

Winter: ..... The alpha is my mate…. But a snowstorm happened and I had to deal with it which put my body out of commision for 4 days

Lucy: Whaaaaaat!? This is the biggest coincidence ever!! Omg maybe your alpha mate is the alpha of my pack! And it would make sense since your pack is at least a 5 days drive from here!

Winter: heh yeah maybe anyway i’m rather hungry i’m going to let you go and see if my mate can stop so me and Snowflake can eat
